Do you have some chromis you don't like ;)

Shrimp from the seafood counter is fine for feeding, it's probably cheaper than chromis :)

We use shrimp and scallops for different things. We freeze them and then thaw them for feeding. I'll share something we started doing recently that has been helpful. When you bring the food home, cut it into appropriate sized pieces (at this point pencil eraser size) and then place each piece in an ice cube tray. You can put multiple pieces in each cube compartment as long as they don't touch. After they're frozen, you can remove them individually, store them in a container of some sort, and since they were individually frozen, you don't have to hack frozen seafood apart at feeding time, you just open the container take out what you need, and put the container back.

Also, silversides work well, and you can generally pick them up at you LFS.

Happy feeding!

that nem is severly bleached and needs silversides soaked in selcon and cut into small peices
it will probobly turn dow a big chunk of shrimp

GSMguy gave you the best advice, there was a lot of incorrect advice previously. The fact is, you anemone is bleached and also starving. It is critical that you do something fast. As previously stated in this thread, meaty foods soaked in selcon is best for a BTA in this condition. Also you need to get the appropriate lighting. If you can't accomodate the BTA immediately, I suggest seeing if a local reefer can until you are ready.

Not enough lighting. Consider giving it to someone else.

redvipe, im not knocking gsm's advice but if you read back i was the first to mention the lights and everyone else pretty much said what gsm said about it being bleached so i dont get where you see bad advice? not starting a fight but the most important thing overlooked was his lighting and i pointed that out in my first reply since no one else did. so i wouldnt call that bad advice. just wanted to point that out since you made it sound like gsm was the only person that made any good points :)

it looks bleached and it may be getting bigger because it dont have enough light which would explain why its bleached. thats usually the first thing they do when there not getting the right amount of light. they get bigger so they can take in more light. what type of lighting are you using and what size tank is it in?

like the other guys said he is probably starving but id say just feeding him directly isnt gonna help him a whole lot without having good lighting. the vho's your using probably arent good enough so id say hes straving for light and just direct feeding it isnt gonna make it completly happy for long term. my local pet store uses vho's and all of there nems and corals bleach because of the lack of light.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like there wasn't some good advice previously, just felt like GSM had good advice in one place. And wanted to day that there was some wrong information posted previously.

no worries redvipe. sometimes things dont come out the way you want them to on the boards. i was just making sure i wasnt being over looked for my posts since i took a whole 30 seconds or less to post them lol. i was also surprised no one said anything about his lights till i did considering that when i got into anemones the first thing everyone told me was i needed better lighting and that no matter what or how much you feed them they wont make it which i found out the hard way. most the time everyone jumps on anyone without proper lighting but i guess the went easy on him lol.

Selcon is GREAT stuff! I soak pellets, shrimp and other foods I feed my fish in it. Use it sparingly though, it can cloud up the tank pretty good.
