Carpets Owners, what's your tank temp?

I keep blue and green haddonis for years and never care to check temp, just set it somewhere around 78-80 and never check to see if heater is accurate or not. recently last week i added a red carpet and i am starting to want things to be as perfect as possible, so i was wondering what is the ideal temp for the carpets.

mine registered at 74 at night and 78 after MH is one for couple of hours. we have been hit hard with frigid cold temp here in Boston so the temp at night is wicked cold so the heater is working overtime but keeps the temp above 70.

short question, what is your temp for your carpet tank?

Right now my tank is around 77 during the day with MH and around 76-75 at nite. I was concerned but reading your post I am not going to worry about it.

I have a chiller and when it is on the heater wants to kick on. I unplugged the heater. I keep the house at 72 when it is real cold and lowest temp is around 75.

For the last 3 years or so I have kept my temps b/t 78 and 83. This winter (( for the first time )) I have dropped the temps a bit --- down to 76-80, has been that way for about a month and didn't notice any change in any of my Haddonis.

76-80 with a haddoni for about a year now but have got up to about 84 a couple of times with no obvious ill affects

mine is at 1.021, read alot of places suggest 1.024-.026?

Wow, I am surprised that you aren't having any issues. Mine (( mainly my blue one )) start to act "off" whenever my salinity/SG isn't 1.026/35PPT

yes my blue and green ones are wierd, i always run sal below 1.020. now with the red carpet, i need to bring all levels to the red's requirement.

Color won't matter when it comes to requirements, they will be the same for each color morph of a species.

Any reason you have been keeping it at 1.020?

no reason whatsoever, somehow when the sal is above 1.020, it refill with RO water. Never figure out why i did that, now with the red, i am more into keeping parameters in check. i want the red to be happy i guess. what make the red happy, i will try my best to fullfill

i have been keeping about 10 roses, 2 carpets at below 1.020 forever (7-8 years) and they seems happy.......... not sure why though.........

Nice purple Haddoni you have there. What's your salinity at?

Pink, what do you measure your salinity with? The reason I ask is that some hydrometers aren't very accurate. Refractometers aren't accurate either unless they are calibrated using a saline solution with a known specific gravity. Anyway, I wonder if it could be the 1.021 reading is lower than the actual specific gravity of your tank.
