There is a Gonodactylaceus ternatensis in one of the reef tanks at the Lfs . I was wondering if anyone had any tips on catching it. Its pretty much full grown and its killing all the hermits and snails in his tank. Im sure its a mantis cause i saw the whole thing. Anyone have tips of catching him plz let me know.

Find out what rock it calls home and pull it from the tank...you could also try to bait it out with a silverside, krill or squid and net it. Ive never heard of anyone having luck with the inverted bottle trap or a commerical trap. I tried the inverted bottle and accidentally killled 4 of my 5 peppermint shrimp.

the thing it the tank is like 60-70 gal and FULL of LR so i mean, its all over the tank and hard to even find. And i cant take the LR apart so its kinda impossible for me unless i can find some way. Dats why i posted this haha

i had one in my tank so i pulled each piece out dipped it in fresh water and he came right out lfs helped me with that idea

not yet. That thing is freakin smart. Another thing is the whole food supply issue. He has a huge food supply. So putting the trap in there isnt proving to successful haha

I've heard you can find the rock he's in and pour Club soda down the hole ..but make sure have him over a bucket of saltwater as I guess they bail out the rock pretty quick.
