Catching eel in rock

When i was taking down my 60 gallon tank this weekend i was trying to catch my brown spotted snake moray eel. These eels are dwarf eels and get to be only 12". The eel is in a big, porous 30lb piece of live rock. The rock that the eel is in is in a trash can with a maxi-jet and a heater. How am i supposed to catch the eel. The eel only comes out in the dark and will probably not come out of the rock. Should i throw a piece of shrimp in and turn the lights off and hope for him to come out.

Thanks

Finally did yes. I had him with the rock he was in inside of a Rubbermaid trash can and I lifted the rock out and he was just hanging out under the rock, not inside of it. Scooped him out. This thing can really curl up. Had him in a 5 gallon bucket when acclimating to his new tank and I put a rock that was at most 3 inches long. He curled underneath it and you would've never known he was in the bucket. Now he's in his own tank.
