The one you got from us was from ORA and they called it Montipora spongodes.

that's right, i remember the sponge part. it's such a rad coral. and it hasn't lost any of its color!

thanks a lot everyone for all of the NICE comments!!!

needless to say, the upgrade is a tremendous improvement over the 75gal. wall of rock i had... but that tank helped me learn alot with my first endeavor into saltwater......

my original plan was for it to be a montipora tank with ricordea along the bottom of the rockwork... but as you can see there are various and asundry other corals in there... all came out of my 75 and i plan to weed them out a little....

i think i'll aim for a mostly montipora/ricordae tank with a few select LPS corals..... there are just tooooo many pretty things out there!!!! :)

Nice looking tank, Lisa. Is that a striped cap (just above the caulastrea)?

thanks Gary,,

yeah, it is a striped cap... it alternates light and dark shades of purple.. the lower plate is all growth since i got it about 3-4 months ago... i really like it..

i'm glad someone answered the coral question because outside of being some type of montipora, i had no clue... :)

as far as lighting goes... it's under 2-250watt XM 20k bulbs.. i have 14k on my 29gal. but i'm going to be changing it out to a 20k also... i think the colors are just sooo much better...

Which of your green 'overstock' bins outside will that be in? The one on the left or the right;)?

I've taken to scattering them across the ground in order to perplex future archaeological endeavors.

If you come be sure to stick around for the filming of the premier of CSI Memphis.

Dave you didn't tell my that blue tort was Kevin's, now I kinda feel bad for taking that whole thing last night, but 'eh free frags are free frags.

If you come be sure to stick around for the filming of the premier of CSI Memphis.

It will be a short episode, the words " David the tort killer" will be written all around the crime scene :mad2:

Larson, I hope the acro nudibranchs on the tort are happier in your tank than they were in mine:D

and the valonia
and the aiptasia
and the mojanos
and the bryopsis
and the monti nudibranchs.

Now that I think about it, I'm glad he gave it away!
