Cats (felines) and tanks

Just watch out my cat likes to drink salt water....My tank is tall so they are not terribly interested in jumping up. Biggest problem I have had so far with the cats is when I am acclimated the fish and my dog of a cat wants to drink the water and look at the fish. Every cat is different for the most part I don't think cats are terrible interested in the tanks but if they are give them a good perch that makes it easy for them to see inside the tank but not so close it lets them jump up into the tank or try to crawl around it.

cats = ferrets.

My vote is to give them away. Or put them outside with the coyotes.

I'm all for off-color humor, but come on, not cool. I've lost a couple beloved indoor-outdoor cats to coyotes.

Anyway, my tank is open top. With an older tank, I had a cat jump in, thrash wildly for a second, then explode out of the tank and run out of the room at 100mph leaving a trail of water all the way upstairs. She never tried to jump on top again.

My current tank is pretty tall. Probably too tall for my chubby lazy cat to jump to. To be safe, I've showed him several times that the top is open water and dipped his paw in. He's never tried to jump, but has always loved to watch, even as a little kitten.

We had a screen top on my bearded dragon set-up and Hobbes the cat would sit right on it next to the heat lamp. At least it kept him *out* of the cage. And the other pic is Daisy drinking from my shrimp tank, her 8 gallon water bowl.
