An old test kit is definitely a suspect. You should have your water tested with another kit.

An excessive nitrate problem is typically a result of bioload exceeding the filtering capacity of an aquarium. Having too many fish or feeding too much can really do a number on the nitrate level.

Would you tell us a bit more about your tank such as the size of your tank, the number of livestock, the amount of rocks, the type of skimmer, etc. How often and how much do you feed your fish?

Do you use RODI water to mix your salt water?

In my 20g long two fish a saddle back clown and a bursa trigger about 30lbs of live rock no skimmer and hob filter. In my 55g two clowns huma huma trigger, coral beauty, blenny and two starfish hob filter and about 100lbs of live rock no RODI water yet trying to get some this week though

The fish in my 55g are small they have plenty of room and alot of rocks to hide in the 20g the reason the trigger is in there is bc I sold my 70g and I am waiting to get my other tank I will be moving some of my fish around then.

JoeJoe let me know when your coming up this way and I will take some off your hands

I haven't got my water tested yet I am doing one more water change tonight a big one and then carrying my water to petco tomorrow

Hey joejoe,

If your small cerith are breeding, I would like to get some offspring from them. Would you like to trade a frag or two for them?

i would like to trade but they just started not to long ago
i wonder how long it will take them to get any size?
when they grow some i would be more than willing to give u some
i only have the small cerith and a few of the zigzag periwinkles
i'm hoping the periwinkles get into the breeding act as well
