Caulerpa

Anyone have any I could buy a bit from (or know of a local LFS that does, TFP doesn't)? I've started a 46g bowfront and want it to be planted and since seagrasses are not easy to find caulerpa is my next choice. Also, think it would be o.k. under a 96w PC (or similar T5) lamp as I don't want to overheat my basement...have enough issues with heat from my fishroom with the halides.

I think TFP has it, you just have to ask them for it. Might want to call and check. I'm going on Wednesday, I can pick it up for ya if they have it.

Damn...forgot to call you to see if you were still going to TFP Wednesday. They had a little bit in one tank when I was there, but it did not have a sale label on it. I won't buy caluerpa online anymore since it can get stressed and go asexual, had this happen before. Chaeto has done well for me through the mail. I've got one more local place up here to check before I'll call TFP and head back down.

I forgot about it while I was there. I was taking a friend to get his light setup, and got distracted by them taking abouta million hours to tell him it was at the warehouse and not the store.

Looking pretty slim in the livestock department. Both SPS tanks look like they hadn't been cleaned in a while - algae on glass, stuff fallen over - nothing really new in the past month or so..

When you go in to the fish room, tell them you want a macro algae culture from the back, Brandon is really good about that stuff. Be very careful as the algae does contain bristol worms and such. I got a free Nudibranch out of it. Its 9.99 and occasionally have them out in the snail tanks. But they pull it from the refugium in the back as it grows too large.

Talk to Gary at gettankedaquariums.com. He is big into sea grasses and natural filtration and has a pretty nice setup. He is outside Carlisle, PA. Be warned he is very opinionated and will more then likely hard sell you on his line of aquarium salts and supplies. However you can not depute his success.

I was also at TFP this past Saturday, I agree the fish room looked bad and lightly stocked.

I asked for some from the back and only got chaeto with one little strand of feather caulerpa in it...I ended up returning the bag before leaving since the guy said I couldn't request a specific species.

I have spoken with Gary a bit before about anemones, but not in person yet.
