cauliflower colt

I purchased a cauliflower colt from you about 3 or 4 weeks ago and it has only opened up once. I have in a medium flow area and under high lighting right now. I did have it in medium flow area with medium lighting for 3 weeks or so. For a easy coral this one is being a pain. I see nothing wrong with it Know holes or damaged area. My water parameters are:

Cal= 415
alk= 9.8 dkh
sg= 1.026
ph= 8.1
lighting= 384 watts pc
Tank size= 40 gallon breeder/ 30 gallon sump/refugium/ euro-reef cs 6-1 skimmer

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Brian Messier

P.s. The white pom pom xienia (aquacultured) that I bought at the same time are doing GREAT well worth the $$$!!!

Thanks I will try higher flow. No need to apologize ,you did nothing wrong. I guess its just a matter of finding the right spot.

I just noticed at the base of the coral it looks like its starting to rot. There also was some type of liquid or something that looked like smoke coming out of the area that looks rotted. Is there anything I can do or should I just pull it out.

Brian

Thank you for the update Brian,

We apologize for the damage to your Cauliflower Colt Coral. After reviewing the picture you provided, it seems that this coral may have been damaged during shipping, or that something else in the tank has damaged it. We would suggest checking around the coral to make certain there are no aggressive inverts near it that may be causing this damage.
As the water parameters you provided are within acceptable ranges, your best option to help the coral may be to cut the damaged area of the coral off. This can be easily done using a razor blade or any other very sharp utensil. Try to only cut off as much as what is damaged, and remove that part from the aquarium. To help prevent re-infection, we would also suggest swabbing the area with a marine grade iodine solution such as Lugolââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s Solution or Seachemââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s Reef Dip.
Again, we sincerely apologize for the issues youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve had with this coral. Please keep us updated on its health, and if there is anything else we can do for you please let us know.

Sincerely,

Greg V.

Well the colt does seem to be getting some of its color back, but the flesh around the stalk is starting to peel off. Should I just leave it alone for a while to see if its just shedding or is this a sign of it passing away?
Thanks,

Brian

I just pulled it out of my tank and it was basically rotted. If you want to go ahead and send me a new cauliflower colt that would be great. I can only accept orders on saturdays so I dont know if it would be better to credit my account or just ship me a new coral. Its your call. Thanks for your help and generousity.

That credit is fine i do need to order some more corals in the near futures, so this will come in handy!!!

Thank you,

Brian

Can you let me know how much credit i have on file? I had a 39.99 for another coral and a 24.99 for a fire shrimp that did not make it. Iam not sure if the 39.99 credit was used on my last purchase. If you can give me the exact amount in credit I have that would be great.

Thank you,

Brian Messier
