Cavitating pump question

My mag 12 is cavitating rather loudly. I didn't notice it before until I recently adjusted my overflow to make no noise. Will the bubbles work temselves out? Or is there a way to fix it? I Have taken the pump completely out of the water and resubmerged it and it is still doing it.

You might want pull it out and clean it up and inspect it up close. You could have something else going on down there.

Is the pump getting enough water or did you limit flow too much when you adjusted your overflow to be silent? Perhaps after you clean it as was suggested, you leave it in the water before reattaching the return line. You might have an air bubble stuck in the pump...

The flow from the pump itself was not altered. How fast the drain flows is what I adjusted. So basically the pump is running full bore. I took it apart and cleaned it. Wasn't really dirty at all. Plugged it back in and it's still making the noise.

You might try pouring some water down the return line to fill up the line/pump, this would get rid of any air bubble at the impeller.

Check impeller and/or impeller housing. I had that same thing happen to my mag24 twice in 2 wks. The pump was working fine and i came home one day and it was vibrating like crazy. The mag24 naturally has a loud hum. The housing kept getting a hairline crack. Ended up changing to a mag18.
