Are any of the more advanced members interested in trying their hands at some seahorses?

I have two female captive bred Hippocampus erectus that I am just not going to have the time to care for properly. I paid $85 ea, but would let the pair go for $100.

Any interest?

I've seen her off/on...did a PM back/forth a day ago. They have been real busy doing some house projects, and you know how much work major renovations can be. I know the did HW floors, and some painting as well.

sooooooooooooo tempting! its been almost a year since i began saltwater (april 20th 2005) but i can't call myself advanced...i have been wanting a seahorse since i was 5 years old! but i don't have the money for them and i also don't want them to die on me......do they eat frozen food? i dunno, like i said this is SO FREAKEN tempting, but at the same time i don't know if i am ready for them...

Xia-

I feed them twice daily. Every other day the mysis is enriched with vitamin powder. They really should be in a species specific tank setup for seahorses. They need more care than typical marine fish, and they really require a commitment to keep the successfully.

Pretty girls! For anyone that is interested, they don't really need a lot of equipment, but CB seahorses do require daily care and upkeep. There is more care involved with seahorses then the typical marine or reef tank. If you have time and a nice, tall and reasonably large tank*over 20g* with low flow and a few hitching places then you've got a seahorse home. They don't need fancy lights or expensive hitches or tankmates. They will be happier in a seahorse only tank and these females are CB, so they will eat frozen mysis.

Minh, I'm not doing erectus anymore. I'm setting up my 100g hex for potbellies(Australian seahorses), and hopefully, my tank will be setup by summer or fall. We are way too busy with the house to setup a tank.

i dunno, i think it's too soon for me to try seahorses, buying them would mean alot of changes to my 23 gallon and the removal of my fish. i am sure i will get seahorses some day, just not now. who knows, maybe in a few years there will be some advances in seahorse care and they will be easier and better to keep.

but still they are some of the coolest fish and must be a real treat to have.
