This is blowing my mind now. I mean, it was before, but now we are talking about being from the future. I would definitely like some details on these variables, and how they show up in the game.
Lets just clarify a little. There are no variables going into the game from the fishtank or will be. This was just something that was said for fun few years ago. Just a "what if" discussion
Ah, I thought you would have some kind of live feed, as you do now, somehow processing the changes in the tank defining the variables, whatever they may be, in the game. I guess you could get the same results a little more simply with a random number generator. Sorry to get off topic, just thought it was an extremely progressive concept.
why are you useing plain tmc salt instead of pro reef, much better used both. Now use red sea pro reef good calcium level.Salt cheaper in UK closer than USA only chanel not atlantic . My shop buy one get one free £50.00 27KG x2 pro reef. Had trade account some years ago with TMC good firm, your tank is trade size give them a call maybe give you a deal , or if in UK a look around will blow you mind. All stock appoved ,also loads of frag farms in UK look in practical fishkeeping mag or www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk P.S tank looks the bo_ _ocks
marinefish keeping big in UK GOOD LUCK.
I would also order a lot more then 5. I would go for 15 or 20 to really have a nice visual impact. I have 9 in my tank right now, one converted to male after 3 weeks in my tank and I would like to have at least 5 or 6 more to round them out.
I know there is still time to add later but a school of anthias that large would look great.
Guess I don't know much about Anthias then. Never had any before in my tanks and Im surprised I wasn't warned by LFS. Oh well.
It is too late to change this order but I'll arrange something with the males. This was mainly to start the tank with something and see how things go. I'll stick with females in the future.
If you get enough females so that they can sort out their ladies it might work out for you. I can't say how many you would need, just know that there is one clear male in my tank for 8 females without any competition for his position. A 5 or 6 to 1 ratio might do it for you but I'm not even close to an expert on the subject. You certainly have the size for it and it would be a very impressive thing to see. Of course in your tank things might work out very differently due to its size.
As far as I know, and have seen in nature, they may school in one large group with clear smaller groups of a male and multiple females within it, at least that is what I've seen in nature.
If you do decided to get more females to pair with males it would probably be a good idea to have a couple of quarantine tanks to split them up into their groups before putting them in the tank, it would probably create less competition between the pairs once they have to share the same space.
(5-7) to 1 would work in a tank this size... they are so hardy 4 or 5 will probably make it til order #2 then just order the heck out of some females! also make sure to order a few maldives males... cuz they are just enough different to set them out from a crowd! the lfs will probably be able to sell a couple of males anyways as these are the crowd pleasers and relatively inexpensive.
