It might be cavitation. If the pump doesn't get enough pressure (or head) on the suction side, that will happen. Try a less restricted suction (like larger diameter pipe), or throttling down on the output.

the available volume of water MUST be more than the pump's rated discharge, hence using larger diameter piping on the intake side.

The other leaks you might want to inspect for is around your flex line connections. It wouldn't take that much of a pin hole for it to suck air through. I know flex line is good to work with in some applications, but in my IMO I don't trust the stuff. Movement and vibration over time weakens those joints very easily. Again IMO. I have also seen it happen.
I don't have a good feeling about them and they didn't glue very well either.

I don't know if anyone asked this yet, but is the webcam housing easy to remove? Once algae starts to bloom it will be tough to keep clean and you will also need to make sure you don't get coralline algae growing on it.

Agree. I don't have a good feeling about them and they didn't glue very well either.
It's been very busy lately but I plan to do some tests with all of the suggestions here and hopefully fix it.
The tank is still cycle'ing and ammonia is at 1.0 mgr/L when I checked yesterday. The No2 is still 0 so I might need to introduce more livesand to get things rolling but there is no need to rush![]()
I haven't cycled quite so big before and never with so much dry rock.
