Today Rainer, Dave C and I got together for a little diy project. We drilled out one of my 38 gal tanks and I figured I would share it with everyone.
First, all the things used to complete the procedure.
One of the most important pieces of equipment for an undertaking like this. We all had eyeprotection on.
Here is the initial set up. First I measured to where I wanted the hole to be. Then I traces the bulkhead with a sharpe marker to make the circle where I was going to drill. Built a water dam with plumbers putty. Then put duct tape underwhere I would be drilling the hole.
Here is what the plumbers putt container look like.
We filled up the dam and started to drill, following all the advice given on this thread.

It was a little nerve wracking at first but once it got going it wasn't hard. Here is the final result.
