CDP: Nice sized RBTA

I need to remove my RBTA from my SPS tank as its getting a little big and I don't want it to start stinging anything.

I received it through CDP so it needs to go for FREE!!!!!! as a simple CDP transaction.

I don't have an alternate location so I'll need to pull it out and immediately send it on its way. Depending on where you are I might be able to deliver but I'd really love to send it to someone local to me. I'm in O'Fallon, IL.

RBTA is 8-10 inches when extended, incredibly healthy, and I've had it about a year.

Can't get the &@%! thing off the rock - its tucked deep inside some rocks that cannot easily be moved.

I don't want to force him out by changing flow or light because that could move it to a part of the tank with corals. Right now its in the only place with no SPS.

I'll keep an eye on it.

Sorry, beaker!

My RBTA split and was encroaching on my SPS and I was able to get one out. I have no place for it so let me know if you want it Nd can come over quickly to pick it up.

I'm in ofallon IL.

First priority to beaker if he reads this and claims it.

CDP transaction only.

And now the fun begins with multiple splits.

Got the one out and still need to find it a CDP home.

The second one was sitting in my powerhead this morning - so now I'm RBTA free and have more space for corals.

Morale of the story - do NOT get and RBTA if you have an SPS heavy tank.

Both RBTA's are gone. One back in the CDP program and the second one didn't survive it's powerhead misadventure.

Any advice on how to get them out?

Mine are anchored deep in the rocks. Need them out, but don't have any ideas.

Some say aiming a power-head at them to make them move, and that has not worked for me. The other method that has not worked for me is placing the rock above a bucket of water and waiting for them to release

Ive used ice cubes in a zip-lock and rub on the foot, or just picked at the foot to get a finger under them to pry them out/off. The very best method I know of is getting rams and his gigantic tongs to pry them out/off:hammer:

That is my problem. I can't even see the foot. No way to move the rocks without taking whole tank apart. Not high on my list.

I'd left mine in place for over a year because I couldn't get to it. However, last week it split and one half moved up to a rock I could remove and the other half moved a bit out of it's hiding spot.

I removed the big rock and used a credit card to scrape one off. That's the one that came off clean and i put back I to CDP. The second one I tried to get off by poking its foot with an acrylic rod. I couldn't get it to move but damaged it and it let go in the middle of the night and got caught in the powerhead.

Good luck. I have no advice other than keep looking at them and see if they move somewhere more accessible.
