Chaetodontoplus angel question

Does anyone know at what size juveniles will start to show sex? Ie scribbleds and false personifers? I'm currently debating on buying 2 juveniles of each and seeing what happens as far as if they both change to male/female or both to one sex? I would think your chances are better at having a male and female if they are juveniles together maybe, then again I could be totally wrong. Thanks in advance for any info on this

Has anyone had one from a juv stage to adult? Peter is the only one who has given me any insight into these fish. My juv emperor showed juv coloration until it was 5.5" or so and then changed. I feel that this is on par for most angels that change from juv to adult but you see some specimens that are smaller in full adult coloration (3-4") I'm assuming this is more one off but my blueline is 3" at most and has no trace of the yellow band and adult coloration is clearly visible. I only ask because i would like to get a larger specimen that is closer to changing and also a juv so I can try and have the best chance for success with a male/female outcome. Copps, I would love your input on this but I'm not sure your on RC as much anymore

Peter after reading thru your thread you posted it seems as though I will be taking a 300$ risk if trying to pair them since the female you had ended up turning male anyway... I think I will just stick with the one. I'm sure it's the same thing with the scribbleds... Problem is the fish are so beautiful that's why everyone wants a pair of them (guess thats why pairs cost big $$):deadhorse:

I think the problem in my case was that the male did not handle the tank move very well at all... and the female took the opportunity to overthrow him. Sure it's always a possibility I guess but I would think much less likely without such an external trigger.

Very true but I will also have a tank move in the future if not a few. (Moving homes, setting up new tank, ect) so that's what scares me when we are talking 300$ angels each. That one on DD is calling my name, we will see how long it stays available. After I lost all those fish and $$ a few wks ago my wife doesn't think I should buy anymore fish... Needless to say I think differently
