chalk goby looks thin

My chalk goby looks like he's got thinner. I've started hiding food in the sand where he eats, was that the right thing to do?

no, it's a goby, here's a picture (this picture was taken before he got thin though)

Sand sifters, especially in small tanks, tend to deplete the sand bed of beneficial organisms then starve.

looks like the kind that only eat by sand sifting live organisms in the sand. you should trade him.
