Oh my gosh!!!! These pics are ALL SOOOOOO sweet!!!!

Btw, has anyone dialed in the reasons for the bumps or lack there of. Some of mine keep em while the majority kinda smooth out, or look tightly stretched over there skeleton. It's either light, water chemistry, or flow. Just havent figured out which one yet.

Thoughts!? Speculation, or even better, definitive answers?

still curious about opinions on this q

Don't get me wrong everyone. I really enjoy the photos and I know its just a photo show here but is there anyway that together we can spread some knowledge about these beauties on here as well. Its just that specific chalice info is so fragmented to research. This is THE chalice thread. If we work together and all give just a little info about the care of these beauties along with our photos, then we can make this THE chalice thread for real :)

I will start. tyree red watermelon likes high light, 300 par, and has colored up much better for me as I have moved it up from 100 to 150 now, i'm gonna give it even more soon. the convict chalice likes low light (thanks Pnoy!) and was bleaching at 100 par, I have shaded it considerably weeks ago and it is still recovering. it seems to recover slow imo

Cheers!
Kris

^^ I think starting a new thread might help and not try to put discussion on pics.. I think it can be done on another thread . Please dont get me wrong its just MHO...

Pnoy: I consider you the unofficial leader of this thread :) and I respect what you say. I've only joined the show off here lately. I'm not trying to hijack this thread or anything. Its just that I have developed a fondness for chalices and I think that if there was more info out there it would benefit the species. I will stop trying to pressure everyone to 'give up info' here and just enjoy the pictures. If only you had a Quantum Meter to measure your par, with your amazing collection and obvious keen ability to find the right placement for each chalice individually. I think the entire community would benefit greatly. I would almost consider shipping my apogee meter to you with a return envelope so you could take some readings. Maybe in the future. Thanks for taking the time to take those pics and share with us, I enjoy them.

I actually started a thread already for chalice lighting, PAR readings for acans and chalices

it has been difficult to get people interested to share info, I guess I will just have to keep trying and hopefully more people will join

^^^ Please I am no leader here.. Just posting how I feel about your concern .. I think what you have in mind is good but for people posting pics on this thread andall the info is a lot of work . besides all of us put all the chalices everywhere in the tank plus with all different lighting .. Lets just keep this thread for people just like to show their piece.. Thank you and hope you wont look at it the bad way.. Thanks man

The problem is most expierenced reefers don't generalize a coral with the same care requirements. Chalice is just a common name for about 10+ different species of coral, so to generalize them with a thread stating "this is how to care for them" would be counter productive IMO. These generalizations often lead newbies to believe they are doing something wrong when there coral doesn't look like there friends.

Pnoy: No worries! I called you the unofficial leader because imo you post the best pictures most consistently, thats all. I need some camera advise from you, lol

ok so I posted this elsewhere and its all blue but its something...

underwaterparadise: That is not my intention to put all chalices in the same catagory. Exactly the opposite, I want to create a bank of information where people can look up their specific lineaged chalice and find how to place it in their tank optimally. Its all trial and error now with fragmented info all around. Minimizing this trial and error by having a definitive resource for named chalice lighting will imo save many pieces from the 'error' part of it. Please join my discussion over there to talk further.

hahah OKAY.:worried: Ugly is one word to describe it. Immense would be another. Do you have any full tank shots to show the extent of this ugliness?

Hugo, Nice piece :). kind of looks like the one a page or two back that the guy was calling his Widowmaker chalice.
