Dude on ebay sounds kinda shady........

I remember seeing that chalice as well, I bid on it, but was no where near the final winning bid.

So the bubblegum monster he was selling wasn't even it? Thats weak.

Nope.....not from Tyree....or WWC. Although......you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I believe his chalice came from the smae place as the BGM! It would be silly to think that only one came out of the ocean.

still.....it isn't the tyree piece....someone paid $150 for a knock off......but then again.....ppl are paying $200 for the mummy eye, and you can't really trace that back to anyone

to be honest......what he was calling the "miami hurricanes" chalice, looked to be the mummy eye.......what he was calling a "mummy eye", was something completely different.

I believe I have something similar, more or less. Mine never showed the blue background like his piece under 150W, but I'm guessing it could be brought out. I was never able to properly ID it, but it was sold to me as a favia... Here's an old pic of it.

that looks real similar! Not exactly the same......but close! I hope yours gets that tri-color affect also!

anyway.....if you want legit tyree corals......don't get from that guy.....but he had pretty stuff....pretty enough that I didn't care whether tyree was involved or not

Looks similar because it's the exact same morph! Only thing not exactly the same is the coloration at the moment which is easily explainable by different tank conditions and lighting.. Granted the first was a top down with strong actinic lighting(look at the egg crate).. but the same color pattern isnt that hard to see...

Juice how about posting a pix of your piece of the ppe.

Juice you bele his piece came from the same place as the BGM yea of course the ocean.

I bele that if you pay for a coral that is supposed to have linage and get charged LE status then the selller has to provide proof of his claims. If it looks nice or similiar i will decide if i want it with out the hefty LE price tag.

No, definitely not an Aussie. I got it well before the Aussie wave hit us, and it was found at a LFS thats known to only carry the generic stuff. It was just one of those lucky finds, it looked nothing like that color wise under their lighting. Ever since switching to t5s the green/purple eyes got more intense but no blue yet. I will have to play around with its positioning now. Isn't the seller running solaris btw? I thought I saw reflections of it in one of his ebay pics.

don't make juice feel bad for paying $$ for it. just like any collectibles, it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for. and if he was willing to drive 4 hrs. and pay ton for it , it is worth exactly the right price for HIM. just enjoy it regardless of where it came from. i think everyone of us here had one time or another paid a lot for something we really like and want. so let him enjoy it folks.

Juice didn't pay $150 for the knockoff version of the Bubblegum monster someone else did, what Jose was trying to say is that you can sell your coral for as much as you want but let people know it's not the real deal instead of calling the coral bubblegum monster , he could of told people it looks the same but it did not came from WWC or Tyree.

yes, i do agree with being honest about where it comes from and that first pic.(look down shot with grating in background) on ebay from the guy with the reflection of the solaris in the back ground claiming that the piece came from the lfs looks exactly like the one that was sold on clint's site.

perhaps clint can clear all this up.....but then again don't think it matters to him, he's selling awesome corals and whatever the buyers do with their piece is not really his concern.(defending my man here cause he had hook me up with some crazy corals in the past)

Not at all trying to make anyone feel bad on how much someone might pay for a coral that is all up to the person to determine how bad they want it but dont call it what it isnt.

Iam trying to understand all this info posted on here and alot of it just doesnt make sense to me.

not accusing you personally, just a figurative speech. no offend intended. sorry.

yes some of it doesn't ring the whole truth there. we'll just have to read between the line sometimes. some people is not 100% honest especially when monetary gains is involved.

I thought this thread was about posting pictures of chalice corals.

AFAIK, it is. :) Here's a couple recent ones from cherrycorals.

I have had if for almost 2 years now and it's about 6-7" long, 5" wide and oval shaped.

Here is a pic back in 2006 a few months after I first got it. It was about 2-3" then:
