Change in one of my established Softies

Hi all,

This morning I took some photos of my tank, then went to the shops and picked up a few hammers and a torch.

Upon leaving for a BBQ for a few hours I returned and my existing softy (really not sure what it is) has changed dramatically. Gone from a thin waving mess to thick, tight thing. Any ideas? Haven't really don't anything other than add the new corrals.
