Change of Aquascaping

I would like to change the current arrangement. I have one show piece rock that I would like to chiesel into about 4 smaller pieces. The rock has been in the tank since October. I have delicate fish like the Mystery Wrasse and the Helfriech Goby.

Will I be guarnteed a Nitrate Spkie if I remove the rock, chiesel and replace in the tank?

You should be fine if you do it within a quick amount of time.

If anything, you might get even more fitration out of the new rock because you'll be exposing more of the pourous nature of the rock.

What size is your tank and how much flow do you have? To answer your question, as long as you do it quickly you shouldn't have much die off. I'd be cautious about blasting a big rock if it's a nice one -- I always seem to be wishing I had larger pieces as they're often easier to aquascape with. You could consider trading it for several smaller pieces with another reefer or a LFS, you'd know what the final product looks like then.
