I remember reading that in the Genicanthus genus... The female species are able to change sex when there is no male in the tank... I just wanna comfirm this before i take the plunge into getting two female...
Well, they can for sure do it. I had a female change into a male and then back to a female. It is not clear how two females will react if introduced together. They can be tough and mean fish.
I bought a boy.... now have a girl....... same fish. They are harem dwellers (one male to several females), but I have not tried more than one female in a tank. If it's a good size aquarium, you may have luck. Keep us posted.....
If you try it it would make things easier if you choose 2 females of unequal size. When one is significantly larger than the other one, there is less squabbling over which fish will become male.
