You have the sku number on this dolomite?

My local Ace Hardware Stores appear to be run by lazy employees and they punt me off the phone saying if they have the SKU they can look for it.
Any help on SKU and or product number?

Oh yeah, a search in the keyword or item in ACE Hardware when you type in DOLOMITE the websites response comes back

I found a local place with pure crushed limestone... but i've read a few places online that people have had problems with it making their Ph go crazy... any opinions on that?

How did it affect their pH?

The dolomite sand we're trying to help folks find is pretty much this rock, crushed into sand. Rock is called limestone, calcite, marble rock, etc. It's also used on roofs and for decorative white rock in yards.

This dolomite sand is used for surfacing swimming pools. Sorry you folks are having a time finding it. If you call this place, and ask for "white dolomite pool sand", they will know what you're talking about.

It may be available locally for some of you. I had them ship me a sample and it is brighter white than Caribsea aragonite.

It's not available locally for me, I have to order a whole pallet (3000 lbs) from a distributor. But I'm going to need about 2000 lbs. I may have some left over. 3000 lbs is costing me a little less than $300 plus shipping.

Ok so maybe a little off topic from the current dolomite conversation but I just got 120lbs of special reef grade dry aragonite from dr fosters for $118 shipped. Shipping was $9! While some might not consider this on the cheap side, my LFS wanted $35 for each 20lbs bag of dry sand! Many other sites I checked with were going to charge nearly as much for shipping as the sand was.

I was reading this thread at work before i had to leave and figured i'll stop art ace haardware to see what they had. The only thing i could find was this stuff for $8 a bag. The grandules are all very fine like sugar and nothing like caribsea. Would this be useful? maybe not as the entire sandbed but mixed with some caribsea sand and crushed coral for some size variety?

That Oldcastle stuff is good. It might even be the same as the old southdown sand. If it is like sugar sized, it is perfect for a good live sand bed.

i have 1/2 a 40lb bag of southdown i was gonna sell, but decided it doesn't take much room in the bottom of the closet, so i'll just save it for when i get my nano started again

with the way i hurt myself, its deffinitally a good idea i live in canada for free health care!

i once snapped my tibia plateau and 4 tendands in my knee snowboarding 2 hours from the border and i had a friend drive me all the way back to canada for some free surgery!

but back on topic,

is there something of a 1-800 # on that bag you got there or something useful that i can get a lead on tracking that stuff down up here?

Skeptic. Do you have the sku number or product number off the bag? The ace Hardware (both) I went to here in the Cleveland Oh area don't stock anything like this and they tell me without numbers they cannot track it down. Thanks.
