Ok so my question is this, what is the cheapest bulb for HQI fixtures. I found some on Ebay called Plus brand bulbs and I am very hesitent to buy a brand I have never heard of. Will these work in a tank as they are designed to. Please let me know if there are better alternatives. I have looked in the used drygoods forum here and there are no 250w DE bulbs. Thanks for all the advice.

Here is the link to the Plus brand bulbs on ebay.

Venture bulbs are quite cheap and are decent, I have now switched to BLV's (14000K) which offer better growth though.

After going with some cheep halides of ebay....... Spend the money on some nice bulbs.....

I can't say those bulbs suck for sure but I know I waisted 100 bucks on chinese halides. Could have spent another 100 and had lights for a year but I only got a month and a half before they shifted to yellow.

all of the major brands produce the bulbs in china.....
The key is finding a GOOD chinese bulb that is made in the same factory but lacks the brand name on it which means it will be 30$ cheaper and you could write on it "XM" or "HEMILTON" if it makes you feel better... ;)
