cheapest place to get the best test kits?

Just looking to find a great test kit for alk and cal...i just trust my api test kits with those 2...All help is greatly appreciated thank you

I really like my Red Sea test kits for Alk and Cal. I have never used any other test kit though.

I use the red sea as well. They have a combo pack that's alk, calc, and mag for around 40 bucks on amazon.

I use mostly Salifert.. Premium Aquatic has an eBay store that's pretty cheap with free shipping.. Amazon is good also.. I use red sea as a back up but I find Salifert easier to do..

I use lamotte alk and once you buy it. It's like $12 for replacement reagents. It's very accurate. I use Sea Chem for CA. I don't like the salifert it doesn't seem that accurate when using the syringe

i believe red sea didn't think the test kit through. First it all dosent fir back in the box it comes in, 2nd i get different reading when i test it twice in a row and third the little plastic titrater tool dosnt fit around the testing glass.

i havent had any of those problems at all. my kit fits nicely back into the box it came in and the titrator fits on my glass jars perfectly.

I've been using Red Sea for a while and I'm really pleased with the results and packaging, how ever I noticed that they use different size testing glass for different test kits.

The ones I have fit back in the box fine and everything works as it should actually pretty easy to repeat the readings with the ones I have. I still like Salifert though =)..

I believe the key is to always do them the same way you do it to get repeatable results .. Like leaving the same amount of air gap in syringe on every test for Salifert/red sea, making sure you get all the reagent from the pouch on Hanna and keeping the alk syringe tip clean on the Hanna..

Right on! The only way to get consistent, repeatable results (not necessarily accurate) is to run the test exactly the same way EVERY time. This also includes the time of day you do the tests. Some tests are much easier to do consistently.

Part of the 'user error' is the ability to actually read the test. If you have a hard time judging color changes (titration tests), you'll have a real hard time being either consistent or accurate.

I can tell the color change in the Alk and cal tests but I can't differentiate the slight color difference in the nitrate and phosphate kits. That's why I don't like the N and P tests.

Anybody want my n and p test kits?
