Definitely not in a smaller tank. I've seen it done in a supersized (600-700 gallon) system, with a pair of ocellaris and a pair of chrysopterus, and even that was problematic...the female chrysopterus was very aggressive and territorial (like all members of the clarkii complex) and would periodically attack the poor ocellaris pair, even though they occupied opposite sides of the tank. I think it might could have worked fine if they'd kept another species with the ocellaris--maybe percs or skunks--something smaller, less aggressive, and not as inclined to roam.

I tried to keep 4 juvenile pink skunk clowns in a 75 myself, but it didn't work for long. As soon as a dominant, female clown began to emerge, she and her mate began attacking the others. I ended up trading 2 of them in for their own safety.

I think it might could be done successfully with 2 small, peaceful species (like ocellaris) in a very large system, but most everything I've read indicates that having more than one pair (and one species) of clownfish in the same tank is not a good idea. There are some public aquariums that have done it, for example, but their tanks are literally hundreds to thousands of gallons, so everybody has plenty of space.

Nice looking clowns; question...can you keep (2) sets of Clowns in the same tank?

I agree with velvet...It depends on the size tank and also the compatibitliy with the other clowns but personally (and most people) would say this is a no-no for the long term. Good luck!

& Thanks Spartan!

Thanks guys; my system will be a 180ga...I think (1) pair will be it for me....kids would be devastated if they become aggressive!

Sweet! What do you suggest for a 30 gallon how many watts about? and sweet tatto quote dude

For a 30 gallon I would use a 150 to 250.

150=5 watts per gallon
250=8.3 watts per gallon.

So either way you go you could do quite a bit but colors of corals may differ from light to light.

I don't really want to enter this debate, but watts/gallon are never a good strategy.
I really like this about article on types of lighting and it has many great links. http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/toplightingproducts/tp/lightfixtures.htm

As for your tank it looks great!

I also dont want to get into the debate but will share some of my experinces.

I use the watts/per/gallon due to the fact that when penetrateing to the bottom of the tank were some anemones and corals prefer some lighting is not strong enough and will not have a good light coverage to help the corals phytosisthysis(i think thats how you spell it).When placeing corals in the tank they need to be were they would be placed as if they were in the ocean.Same as with anemones.I have had rock dwelling anemones live in sand not in the rocks.I have had some sand dwelling anemones live in the rocks due to the fact that there was not enough light for the anemone down at the bottom of the tank.I have had corals bleach out when placing them in the bottom of the tank were they need to be and haveing them bleach out because of low light.Yes people would say bring the coral up closer to the light but once again we are trying to recreate the ocean and mimic it and not destory it.Same thing with anemones I place them were they need to be not were I please.If the anemone moves to bad,not my fault because I know that I have enough light for the corals/anemones to live were ever they please not were I please.

As said above I do not want a debate but I am just spreading my experinces and why I use the rules as I use.If you find this no help Im sorry I try my best and will always try my best.I learn from mistacks and share my mistacks because I care and want people to hear me and learn from me to save them the money Iv lost and to show them the way I think things should be done.Not saying anyones elses advise is worse than mine I just know that this is true and honest truth and would never speak a dishonest word about my and/or anyones elses reef tank.

Thank You,
Austin/Clowns101
