Check on the kids and dogs

Those may be big, but these are more menacing looking ... something about the armored shell, this one was tiny, smaller that the eraser on a standard #2 pencil. hard to get a good clear shot, note the morsel all wrapped in silk.

I like spiders. I particularly like them on a dewy morning when they decorate all the bushes heading into autumn, and the sunlight hits the beads on the web---I've always found that very sad, because of course they're not going to live much longer.

Except maybe in Florida!

I've seen ones like this here in CA a few times. They look menacing as all hell but they are good citizens. Unlike those damn brown recluse.

Yeah that is a common garden orb weaver. They can get quite big but realativly harmless. However while on vacation my kids came across this on our rental property while in the outer banks... Not good at all...

She was inside a sprinkler storage hole by the side of the house. She had over 100 babies in there with her as well plus two males. If you look to her left there is one of her babies along side of her!

Imagine how my adrenaline ran when I seen my two kids looking face to face with a lair of black widow's. Don't let the picture fool you she was from front leg to rear over 3 inces and looked very nasty!

But all and all I think spiders are very interesting creatures...

Nice shots.

Spankey:)
