Check out these rad anemones!!!!

Well unfortunately we won't really know for quite some time. UPS lost the package and I have no idea where it is. Sucks, I also lost an entire day of work. UPS officially sucks. Their handling of the situation today was outrageous and we still have NO IDEA where the package is. It also had 2 other incredibly awesome pieces in there. I know its not a vendor forum but he did say he'd make it good. ;) Dunno how long until they get another blue in, and acclimate him.

Sorry to hear that!! :(

Interesting thread - the blue anemone sure looks like ones that the Pittsburgh Zoo Aquarium acquired from South Africa (of course, NOBODY can properly ID an anemone like that from just a picture with no collection data.) I bet there are doppelgangers for this species (or even the same one) in South America.

I cant belive I read through this entire thread with the anticipation of the pics when the animal arrived and this is what I get. Sorry your nem didnt make it. :(

Well we're approximately 96 hours since these were bagged and he's actually alive. The box got stuck in Louisville and it was such a major pain. The blue looks "ok", his mouth is gaping just a bit but there is no sign of deteoration. There was a PRIZE red yuma in there that is absolute mush, I've never smelled something so foul. A micromussa frag appears to be ok. I'm going to drip acclimate the guy. The water was pretty cold. I'll turn down my chiller for the day and keep my MH off also. I promise pix in the next 24 hours.

Outta the bag now and I have to say - never ever ever have I seen anything so blue! That doesn't mean its gonna live - but DAMN its blue. The mouth is definitely gaping and inside the mouth its actually white. There was some stuff floating around in the bag but I'm hoping it was the styrofoam.

I'll update later this evening.

Well, unfortunately he did not make it. When I first got him, there was a small piece of decay near his mouth and when I got home it started to spread. He came attached to styrofoam and never let go of it - it was impossible to get him off. I don't think that helped. Man decaying soft corals really smell - I can't remember the last coral that died on me. :(

I'll talk to the vendor and see how the others are doing and if they're doing OK, I guess we can chalk it up to shipping. The ric that came in was also melted but the micromussa frag is doing ok - just lost a lot of color. I'll get some pix up later.

I bought an orange one and a blue one. The heat pack wasn't working properly and when they arrived the water was 61F. I did a slow drip acclimation for both of them before placing them in the tank. The red/orange made it and has been doing fine for about a month. The blue one didn't last and went down hill right out of the bag. I contacted the vendor who was very cooperative and said he would replace it with another blue one. Rob seems to be a pretty nice guy to work with and the orange anemone seems to be doing fine. It crawled behind some rock work where it gets NO light. It has been there since arrival but it looks to be in good health. I feed it almost daily as I do most things in my tank. My Tank temperature does get up to 80-81 F at times and I have watched it during these periods. I try to keep the temp betwen 77-79 on average. At this latter temperature range the tentacles come out and the anemone shows no outward signs of stress. Whenever the temp has gotten up to 80-81 the anemone closes up. Rob did tell me it likes cooler water before I purchased it. The anemone is probably non-photosynthetic since it crawled into an area of no light and seems to like it there.

I got the orange ones and a dark green one yesterday, and today I picked up a small blue one.
From talking to tohe owner it seems that these guys like higher salinity levels (1.025)
My tank is at 69F right now, Ill keep you guys updated... here are some [bad] pics (which were taken about 45mins after introduction to the tank:

Check out page 2 of this thread for latin names, originating environment, etc.

May they do well in your system. Please keep us up to date :)

Nice, keep us posted! I know several more came in and those orange look really cool. My replacement blue is in but we're going to wait until after the holidays since shipping is so iffy during the holidays.

my blue is so small, he is doing great so far but his mouth barely fits around a peice of small pellet food, tiny but he looks like he is very healthy, the other anemones are also doing good and ate mysis shrimp pretty well

My green anemone killed my blue one pretty much, the green one moved almost ontop of him, i have very little hopes for the blue one... its a shame. Otherwise the anemones are doing good
