I have started using shrimp that noni sells for my new batch of baby bimacs and they are the perfect food for all cephalopods. If you need food for just hatched cuttles and baby octopuses, this is the only real option besides catching your own ocean pods. The sucess and growth rate on any other foods will be reduced dramatically. The shrimp I got were about 1/8" -about 1" (mysid size). I had been catching my own ocean pods but its nice to beable to have some deliverd to your door or airport when the weather is not in your favor.
The nice thing about these shrimp is they are hardy, live in salt water and extremely hi in HUFAs. They are aquacultured so they are pathogen and
disease free. Baby cephs grow much faster with a constant source of high quality live food swimming around all the time for them to catch. The shrimp are great scavengers so when they are not serving as food for the octos, they are cleaning the tank! Octopuses are messy eaters so this is a big plus.
Live food also promotes hunting and plenty of activity for the octopuses. The 2" size are great for larger cephs.
Its a real nice feeling having a whole mess of live shrimp in with your octos, knowing the shrimp will live till they get eaten unlike ghost shrimp that die after a short time in saltwater. Now your octos always have a source of live food when ever they are hungry. George is super nice too so dealing with him you won't be dissapointed!
