They do get pretty spectacular when the are full grown.

I notice that mine has a very different contour to its jaw. Is it an indication of sex?

Yes, that is how you tell sex in this species. Remember the male holds the brood. My wife reminds me of this periodically.

My guess would be the blunt mouth for the male, assuming the pointier mouth is smaller.

Like I said though, just a guess, I never knew about this distinguishing feature.

Adult males are supposed to have a more squared off jaw line, but that is still not 100% accurate all the time.
