Cheep & cheerful

Everybody is talking about the rare, expansive and difficult. Not me. I am in to the zoos for the easy, cheap and cheerful color for the very basic setup tank. So please, go ahead and post some pics of your bulletproof el chepo favorite, possibly one u got free from a buddy, one that grows like a weed no matter what, never gives you any grief but plenty of pleasure! The one u'd give your dearest friend as his first coral if he suddenly decided to get in to the hobby. I know there are plenty of nice, common and easy growing zoos out there…

If I told you where I found a reliable source (not far from me) that has exotics for about $1 a polyp, they would be sold out, and I am afraid the source cannot support the amount of business it would get by me posting their website. Any and all colors from Japan to Florida's own reefs.

It's a small-time-part-time project he runs. But I refuse to let others gobble them up because then I can kiss my source good by, and I will be back to paying $50 a polyp for exotics.

Here's just a few examples:

WYSIWYG:

$35

Those are his pictures. I just hosted them on imagehost so people cant retrace the website.

If he had mounds of stuff, I wouldn't mind sharing, but I can tell this is definitely not a full-time, full blown store. I would imagine it's a small in-home propagation station, thingy. Although he is a certified FL aquaculture store. He clearly indicates his aquaculture number on his site, so he can prove what he is doing is 100% aquacultured and legal.

But once something sells, it's removed from the site. Since he doesn't have that much, or very big pieces, I don't want to ruin the source.

Sorry. I am willing to share with my fellow reef club members, but that's about it. I sincerely wish he had a larger setup, so he can share his corals without price gouging to the max (ie $50 a polyp)

here are a few of my favorite commons. there is nothing pictured here is worth any more than $1 or 2 at most a polyp as they are all common and have all been around for longer than I have been in the hobby.

most pics under straight 10k's

But in all seriousness. To me I love getting cheaper zoo's that are simple but look nice. Also those sometimes seem to grow faster for me than the likes of " most wanted polyps "

ah..... now I know who's pics those are ( I found out on my own ) . That's why those pics looked so familiar. Don't worry I won't say a word. I've been contemplating about ordering from that source for a while now.
