Cherub Angel Minimum Tank Size?

Liveaquaria says 55g...other sites say 24g. What's your opinion?

I'd like to get one for my IM nuvo 40 but I wasn't sure if it was big enough. I have to remind myself it's actually 30g display.

I've got one in my 40b. Just to caution you make sure if you get one to add it last. They can be and are pretty aggressive to any new fish that come after them. I wish I had known this before I got mine. Now the only fish he has issues with for the most part is my McCosker's wrasse. Some fish he never even bothered at all like my Midas Blenny or Matted file fish. So I say you're fine as long as you add it last.

Of course depends on your tank dimensions. My 40b is 36x18x17. They're very active swimmers and constantly pecking on rocks non stop

I would say no smaller than a 30, but it also really depends on the dimensions. I recently had a 3ft 20 gallon shallow nano and my cherub seemed super happy in it. Loved darting from one side to the other all day long.

Before I got my 40b I had a 20 long that was 30" long and my Cherub was in there, he did fine in that tank.

But I think the key there is that they are longer and the Cherub will have more uninterrupted swimming space due to the length of the tank. If your tank is more like a cube I guess it depends on the dimensions and how much available rock you have for him to pick on. They are grazers as Steve pointed out and constantly picking at the rocks. They are VERY active fish!

FWIW - I had one in a standard 30g for over 7 years (I don't know why it died) prior to that a had a different cherub angel in the same tank for about 1.5 years (that one succombed to a hitch hiking mantis shrimp)

I think a key is the tank mates. Most of the time the only other fish were an ocelaris clown and flame hawk. So no other algae eaters and all about the level of assertiveness - no one really agressive, and no shrinking violets. My cherubs ate anything - flakes, pellets, etc.

Just my experience - every fish is different.
