What do you guys think? A LFS close to me has one that's about 3" long, active, and looks healthy. He's a little skinny, but he's been moved around a lot, etc. It's $100 which sounds pretty fair if not cheap.
I have never seen a skinny Chevron? Also you will have to know you will have to find him a larger tank in the future, but for now as long as you have plenty of live rock and algae to graze he should be okay

Is the chevron eating? How big is the chevron? I hope you will be QTing the tang and treating with PP (skinny fish usually have something internal IMO) also what will the tang be housed with? A skinny fish that is a picky eater has a lot better chance of taking to prepared food if that fish sees the feeding response of the other fish you have. I would question why the chevron is so cheap?? My LFS can get them for 150-175$ range pending on size, and they have most things priced below what you see them on LA for without the shipping cost involved. I would be asking some questions at your LFS
I see them around me for 100 about 3 times a year. My LFS just had a sale on them last month. As for them being skinny, that seems to be the norm for small Juvi's. they eat constantly, but I don't really see them fat as Juvi's.
