Hey guys,
I've been lowering the salinity in my tank from 1.026 to 1.00875 over the last week and a half.
This was after I noticed a few ich spots on my Yellow Bellied Blue Tang. I haven't seen the spots in over a month, but thought I'd hypo the tank since I had no coral in the tank yet. I quarantine, but I think the ich came from my three old fish that hadn't shown signs in 2-3 years, but had no stress in the tank. That tank had ich about 6 months before those fish were introduced.
This is the first day being in the hypo range and I noticed that my Chevron Tang is pretty lazy and has lost some color in his face.
All other fish seem fine (5 other tangs, clown, cleaner wrasse, 3 cardinals).
Any ideas?
0 Ammonia
0 Nitrates
PH 8.12
dKH 6-7 (Hard to tell, still bluish yellow at 6, yellow at 7)
Salinity 1.00875
I did have a huge swing in PH a few days ago when I added a bit too much baked baking soda to raise PH after a 150 change of RODI water.
Balanced out over a few hours though... here's the graph (ignore the lows, the probe was out of the water...)
What's the best plan of action? Just let him get used to hypo and keep the parameters stable?
My tank really doesn't have any parameter fluctuate when it's sitting... just changed 570 gallons of saltwater to RODI over the last week and a half.
Thanks guys... love this little guy... great fish!
