Hey all,
I will be in Chicago at IMAC the end of this month with a bunch of fish friends. Several of us coming for the conference will be heading to the museum of science and industry on Thursday the 27th and Friday the 28th.
Before we go buy our tickets I thought it was worth posting here to see if anyone works there, has discount passes, or can provide any other helpful info we should know about.
Thanks so much!
Adam

I dont have any passes but I recommes that you should go over to the Shedd Aquarium while you are in there. Its right next to the museum and they have some great reef tank displays.

The IMAX theater at the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) has a movie playing called "The Ocean Oasis." I saw this movie last week and was very disappointed. Of the 30 minute movie, they spend no more than 10 minutes under the water. The rest of the movie talks about birds, reptiles, deserts, and other stuff.

I admit I didn't know anything about the movie before I saw it, but when "ocean" is in the title, you think it's gonna be about fish and corals. Think again.

seriously skip the science and industry and do the Shedd and Field museums. Both are way better then the museum of science and industry. I took my kids to the science and industry museum last year and it has really taken a dive since I was a kid. Plus going to the field museum and the Shedd you have soldiers field and Adler planetarium right there too.

I could not agree more. I went there several times for school trips and recently went back (maybe 2 years ago) and nothing was new. If you have ever been there before odds are it's the same.
If you haven't been there you could spend half a day there but never 2 days (Unless you walk REAL slow)

Shedd & The Field Museam are both much better. Last i heard the Field museam had a Machu Pichu exhibit. I think it may be gone by now as they are probably getting ready for King Tut this fall.

The Field has reopened or

The Field has reopened or

will pen their new Dinosaur exhibit by the time IMAC is in town. It will be simply magnificent. Sue is the most complete T-rex in exhistance and the Field is a major player in the field (so to speak).
