I have decided to dose ascorbic acid for two reasons: first it is a source of organic carbon, useful for denitrification and consequently for the luxury uptake of the phosphates by the bacteria; second, ascorbic acid seem to be able to protect the coral tissue from heat stress, reducing the expulsion of the zooxantellae.
The dose of 1 gram derive from the lecture of an article in which the reduction of the zooxantellae expulsion was obtained dosing 1 mg/liter of ascorbic acid.
This dose is enough for denitrification too, in one week my nitrates drop from 10 to 0, phosphates 0....and very clear water.
