chiller storage

i am going to be shutting down my chiller for the winter. Have it "T" off my return, and it works without issues. I was going to shut it down and drain for the winter, as its in another room and I am always worried about a leak. Would I be better off just shutting it off, and letting the water flow thru? or shut the T off, and remove the water. I know somethings are better left wet. This is a brand new chiller so I dont have any issues as of now.

TIA Derek

Make sure you flush it out before storing it dry. Ive read on my chiller to run water the opposite direction for cleaning

When I used one, I used to completely remove it from the system, flush it with FW and leave it indoors dry for the idle months. Typically got about a decade out of each unit.

Here's a cut/paste from the TECO website, and have used this process for the last several years on my chiller when storing for the fall/winter/spring:

1. Take a 5 gallon bucket and fill it with 2 gallons of water
2. Add 1 gallon of white vinegar to the bucket of water
3. Allow this water/vinegar solution to circulate through the chiller and return to the bucket for about 30 minutes.
4. Discard the contents of the bucket and rinse.
5. Circulate fresh clean water through the chiller for 10 or 15 minutes more.
6. When you are finished, tip the chiller to one side to remove as much water as you can prior to storage.
7. Place the chiller in a box and store in a well-protected area
