chinese led lights

Nope. We already tried that too. That was what I was originally hoping for.

The drivers use resistance dimming, and there was no way to get them to accept 0-10v properly.

So the circuit drives the power supply output current to ground through the
pot for dimming? Hmm thats going to change the color temperature of the leds. cheap though. Is there an LED drive r chip involved? I need to find the posts where you took it apart.

THe acan went from red to orange, so still beautiful. My pizza face chalice is just as red as when i bought it. The greens have gone from green to nuclear-glowing out of the tank- green. ALL of my corals are growing like mad. I've had devil's armour polyps go from 2 to 10 in under two weeks.

I would say an acan changing from red to orange would be more desirable, as orange is rarer...and therefore more expensive

This I couldn't tell you, I'm no EE and this was from someone else earlier in the thread.

Now I remember why no one has the Houyi lights yet. They're really pricey. Too much IMO.

This is for the 24" light. The bigger sizes are even more expensive.
CREE XP-G 24"HY-A01- 40*3w led aquarium light EXW-factory price is 528USD
Bridgelux 24"HY-A01- 40*3w led aquarium light EXW-factory price is 398USD
1 unit with DHL express shipping to USA is 102USD

The Damai light is a bit more reasonable. This is for the Bridgelux one that can use violets.
DM-40X3W-B Unit price: USD198.00/pc (for light fixture)
Wireless controller unit price: USD65.00/pc
Shipping cost: USD88.00
Total amount: USD351.00

I'm not too sure about those. That's a lot of red in there.

You would need to find out the exact leds they are using. Are the middle Epistar 10w leds? Cree on the outside? Lots of details missing, but it does look cool. Might be pricey too. Ask for a quote.

Here is Lyn's idea to fix the color issue in my lights. Looks like it would work. What do you think?

Still too many blues to whites with the leds they used. They only fixed the poor spread of the reds, and the random 400 uv led doesn't do anything.

Until they can offer b:w:b:w on the same string, it still won't blend correctly unless you use 1 vertical row of blue to 1 vertical row of whites. They're still trying to push a poor looking light to you. I would give up on them at this point.

Your white, is it 14000 or 1400? If its 14k ive never been a fan of any white about 6500k. Color seem to wash out with the higher number.

Did you guys get a tracking number with your light? I emailed Simon and he told me that it has finally been sent but then stated that the DHL tracking will be sent to me another time. If it has been sent why not just give me the tracking number now? to be honest I'm really disappointed with Twilights service. They are good when you are asking them questions before you buy then once you have brought it you don't hear from them again.

Lyn sent me my tracking number right away and I also received one from Aliexpress. You should be able to log into your Aliexpress account and find the tracking number that way.

Just got mine... http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...-and-15W-4Green-4Red-4B/317880_586828063.html ... (but with 90 optics) very happy with both lights and service, or what ever you want to call it...placed an order and everything was smooth sailing. Never needed to contact them and lights came fast and in impeccable condition.

Replaced 2x250 14000k and 2 T5 actinics with 2 of them. Just running at roughly 55% and they already look brighter than my old bulbs. No electronic displays and controls that will break, they have good old knobs :) It is also really nice not to have all that electrical junk under my tank from my old lights....now I have space for a fuge! Weeeeeeeeeeee!

Total time from order to arrival in Toronto, 8 days.

Only negative thing I have to say is that the stuff that they send you for hanging them is a joke pretty much but I never intended to use it anyway. Unless you get at least 2 lights and anchor them together all you will end up with is a LED merry-go-round.

I would highly recommend this product but make your own plans for how you will hang them.

Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked a million times. Ive tried to read through the thread but it is 137 pages lol

I am a complete noob when it comes to LED, ive only ever used MH. I just bought a new tank and would like to go LED without breaking the bank, if possible.

I just bought this 40"x20"X7" frag tank that im going to be setting up. Can anyone point me the right direction in what setup to order?

Im open to any suggestions, thanks a ton!

Depends on what you want. Do you want to have a controller or are you happy with just dimmable knobs?
