Bhazard see post #3586 it has half and half, still think i need 90 degree optics and not 60 Degree.

This was the blu at 60% white at 85%, i have since dropped the white back to 60%, very bright before that.

Try to wait until the end of the month. They may have another model coming out soon to choose from.

Yes Sunny told me the end of August so I will wait for the new model.

I really wish they would come out with a 48" model so I only need to buy two.

I would've bought the one from HouYi but nobody ended up trying them out in this thread.

Bhazard what do you think a d120 with this combo

33 blues
16 whites
2 violets
2 reds
2 greens

I know you like more violets but I have 4 now and Id like a few less.

Depends on what Whites you use. 16 cool whites would make the fixture entirely too blue. 16 neutral (6500k) or a mix of neutral and warm whites would look more toward 14k at max.

I don't think the violets are what you don't like. Violets aren't overpowering, and the more you use, like 6 or so the better. You shouldn't even be able to see 4 violets when everything is turned up. Red and green is subjective, but 2-4 each can look nice. I can dial in my red/green/violet string of leds separately, where you wont be able to with 2 dimmers.

Ok here are some pics with all three channels at 100%. Its a 10k look. As always the pics don't show the true colour but its close. Please excuse the algae.

Overall I'm pretty happy with these lights and if I wasn't going to use T5s as well I would only change one thing. Instead of having the third channel for moonlights I would have reds, greens, violets and whites. Not sure if they could do that but I'm sure it would be easy enough for them. I have been toying with having 4 x T5s and two rows of 12 LEDs as well but after having these lights I'm undecided now.

Reefbreeders just notified me that they just got in the Nova A4's for sale. Theirs already has a nice pre-made ratio to choose from, and they'll add in Meanwells for Apex dimming for an extra $100. They are located in the US if you are weary of ordering from China.

If only this was around when I started...... well I wouldn't know as much about how to work with leds and drivers I guess.

Great looking tank you should be happy with the lights.

Lights look great, the timer function is very good with the dimming very smooth.

The moonlight channel is too bright for moonlight even at 5% I have turned 3 of mine off at night and just use one for moonlight.
Hey zoanut, what did you find after you removed the optics, we're they brighter and was the spread significantly better.
I have 60 degree optics, would in hindsight like 90. However I have them mounted quite high above the tank and it makes access better and keeps the lights free from splashes etc.
Cheers

I took my optics off and it does seem brighter but I think thats just because the spread is alot better. I should have gone for 90 degree optics as well but have lowered my light since its only the standard 120 degree optics on.My tank is 70cm length x 48cm wide x 35cm high and every part my my tank is lit. Funny dimensions yes but its the only space I have and its really a holding tank until I upgrade to a slightly larger tank next year.

I am trying to build a 16k equivalent layout with a B:W of 1:1. These are the LED colors I was going to use.

Whites: combo of 6500k and 10000k
Blues: combo of 440nm and 470nm
Red: 660nm
Violet: 400nm
Green: 530nm(might change these to violet instead)

Does this look like it would give me a 16k light? I was also planning on using 90 degree LEDs.

Twilight offered to do a grid PCB ayout for free.. no 150 per unit.
They feel they are going to make a grib layout standard.

I think I am going to wait until evergrow comes out with their next model
before pulling the trgger.

Were you going to do a grid with seperate dimmer for moonlight's? If so, then they changed their mind. I wanted that setup but they said it would be to fragile of a pcb layout.

How many of each LEDs are you going to use?and do you want it 16k when on 100%?

I was all set on ordering the Nova's from ever grow and then saw the ones from reefbreeders so I placed an order for two of them. Should have them in 2 weeks and will let everyone know how they are.

Same thing basically. I believe they source them from Evergrow, and use their own custom ratio.

Yep thats kind of what I figured and since the price is about the same I figured I might as well. I saw something from them that said the difference were the dimmers, fans, heatsinks on the drivers and slightly different LEDs.

Ok, at least I know I am not crazy now. I thought that was very much the same light.

So is evergrow still thinking about coming out with a controllable light? Dimmable from an RK or Apex? I thought I read that here.
