The Twilights have both two and three dimmer fixtures. Look them up on either alibaba.com or aliexpress.com to find the different lights they offer. Depending on what you are looking for you could contact Lyn at Twilight. He is very helpful.

Talked to am last evening about new stuff..here is what he had to say:

Good to hear from you.

Yeah we are testing our new model, but it is not D120, it is a total new design model with LCD/sunrise/sunset/advanced heating sink/Secondary optical lens option, etc..

We are trying to start promotion the end of August. We need your review and help too.

By the way, RC members will surely get discount for this light.

Best Regards,
Sam Chen

Hope this is something to look forward to and the D120 is a very good light.

It will be. they have taken all the info and suggestions from us and built it with us in mind. All of it helps them just as much as it helps us, as it is basically free R&D for them.

There will probably be two choices, a 40x3 Cree version, and a 55x3 Bridgelux version. They may also eventually offer multiple sizes like the Nova series as well. I'll be one of the first to test it out when its ready and available.

So you can control your lights in 2% increments? I am only able to do mine in 5% increments. So would you want six LEDs for moonlights? Or are you saying to still have 55x 3W and then add an additional 3x 1W?

I did get a response from Lyn on changing out the 3W for 1W. You do not have to change the dimmer if you want to goto 1W, so you could just change out the LEDs.

No I can only control mine at 5% but when I watch the light once it gets to 2% it turns the LEDs off. As for the moonlights I meant keep the 55 x 3w and add 3 x 1w for moonlights.

It wouldn't be hard for them to add those extra 1w moonlight LEDs and just have them on 24hrs so they wouldn't need a dimming channel for them. That way people could use the third channel for reds, greens and violets whatever colours they want. The only thing with that would be that they should be able to have more than 3 LEDs on that channel.

They would have to design a new pcb to do that.

The 3w leds for the moonlights can be easily swapped to 1w. You could do it yourself if you wanted.

The quick workaround, is that you can use any 3 leds on that moonlight channel, so if you wanted it to be 3 reds or violets instead of moonlights, they could do it by just swapping leds as of now. I personally like the moonlight option.

Thank you so much for sharing. Please help me decide. I have been offered the alternative of a set of CREE 72w (24x3w) or a set of Bridgelux 120w (55x3w) for the same price. My first reaction was to choose the 120w, but from your posts I believe most of 120w owners do not run them at 100%, so I thought going CREE and have the higher bright might be an option. After many years with FOWLR and want to enter reef world, so i am looking for 3 or 4 units for my 72 tank I am not attached to any type of coral. Thanks and greetings from South America. .

You get more value from the bridgelux units. Cree also does not make a violet 420nm led, which is very beneficial for a reef.

I would not use a Cree unit unless it used violets in it from another led maker, like Semileds.

Thanks bh. I will choose 120w option then. I will follow your advise and will seek a mix of 30 Royal Blues 11 neutral/8 warm whites/6 violet. Shall warms are not available, will add red and green. Thanks for your help.

I know Reefbreeders already does. The lights I ordered have two dimmers (whites, reds, greens, and violets on one, royal blue on the other). I think for an extra $100 they will add the ability to be controlled by apex. I obviously dont have the lights yet so I cant say how they perform but they are only about $20 more than evergrows - with dimmers, 2 yr US warranty, and they responded to emails pretty quickly so it was worth the small extra cost to me.

Yes definitely post your findings. I am looking into this right now, but was simply thinking about hacking my light Doing a mcguyver

I love my nova a4 but would be interested in seeing the new units too, Bhazard any time frame on these?
Corey

They aren't new, they are the Novas exactly, right down to the heatsink used inside. They just use a custom ratio like we do when we order directly.

It's nice to buy through reefbreeders for a quicker warranty process if needed, and the ability for them to add apex dimming by installing new drivers. The pics on the website show it, its the Nova A4. I haven't heard of 1 nova or d120 breaking yet though, they've been solid.

There's no difference in ordering from them or Evergrow otherwise. Evergrow would ship faster if they have a unit in stock instead of the 2-3 week wait from reefbreeders, and Evergrow can add the 1-2 power cord for multiple linked units feature. You would also get a multiple unit discount from Evergrow.

so they are adding different drivers? i just assumed they were jacking into the 0 to10v input to the driver. Or is apex PWM? i always forget...

I dunno, thenpic and the description dont match up. also, just blue and white are going to be pretty limited in terms of spectrum.

They add drivers. I assume two meanwells in parallel but I'm not sure. The drivers themselves cannot do 0-10v.

They tried to use the original drivers for Apex dimming when I ordered mine originally, but it didn't work well, and only worked on some units.
