chinese led lights

Ordered from them. Good luck and I really hope your experience is better than other stories I read

Thanks bud. I hope so too. I might have considered the black box style but they are under 16 inches long and the eshine is 24 inches long. I think I will get better coverage on my tank with 2 eshines and probably would need 3 black boxes. The solar simulator and quiet fans were a factor too. Thanks for the good wishes and taking the time to share.

You have 48 LED fixture. And you have to use Bridgelus LED's so I would look at a combination like

12- 4,500K Whites
6 Cyan
6 Atinic Violets 420 nm NOT the Ultra Violet LED's
12 or 24 Royal Blues (only 12 if you can get 12 blues in the mix)
12 Blues if they make them available to you.

Total Color should be slightly bluer than than a 14,000K but not nearly as Blue as the 20,000K look. Also wif you go with Royal Blues it will actualy have more of a blue purple look than an actual blue look.

For lenses I would go with either none or the 90 degree lens. The sharper the lens angle the more possibilities of shadows and with multi colore the shadows become colored and obvious.

Thanks a lot Troptrea. Honestly have no idea about cyan and Atinic Violets 420 nm (what is nm?). I am going to email them and see if they can do this color combination. I also am going to insist that they list the color combo and lens angle on the invoice they send---hopefully avoiding any confusion such as what phishguy experienced.
Do you really think that 12 whites and 36 other colors is enough white. Believe me, I have no idea what I am talking about, but it seems like going from standard 50% white 50% blue to only 25% white is a lot less white. Will it still be bright enough----might be a dumb question but just wondering.

I have a single toatronics 30b25w over my 70g cube (30x30x18). Lights everything well, and all my lps, ricordea and leathers are happy.

I did replace the fans with quieter fans

Speaking of chinese led lights, have you guys ever seen these. <a href="http://s283.photobucket.com/albums/kk313/the413pimp/?action=view&current=DSCN0553.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk313/the413pimp/DSCN0553.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Link?
interesting idea though

Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me out. I am new to LEDs still but I have been reading through a couple pages from this thread. I have been trying to find a budget friendly LED system for my 20g long (30"Lx12"w). I have been looking at the eshinesystems LEDs and the only one that I could find to have this kind of spread is the 4G-1 48x3W cree led aquarium light. Suspended at 20", I will get a spread of 29"x13". This is the best I found, but it seems like it would be a bit of an over kill. Right now I have a couple acros and a monti but mainly LPS and zoanthids (I'm not very good at the whole sps thing) but would like to get a fixture that could still grow them down the road if I still change my mind. Thank you in advance, and happy reefing!
Tony

do you have the name of these lights?

Ok so my LFS had one of these 120W, 55 LED - 3W LED, units in stock yesterday. I bought it and took it home, hooked it up, and it runs great. The light output is VERY bright. My corals responded well within 15 minutes it seemed.

Now the light output is extremely bright with the white and blue lights on, 2 switches one for each. The coloration and spread is almost identical to my WavePoint 4 bulb (54w a piece bulb) T5 unit. It is just a lot brighter.

The shimmer is not remotely close to my Kessil A150W units. The Kessils have tons of shimmer, but for sheer brightness and coverage, these lights are very good. I am picking up another for the other side of my 55 gallon next week when it comes in. The fans are pretty much silent, 3 of them on top, aluminum heatsink under the casing. No dimmer switch, just two switches for blue and white, off an on.

These are supposed to put out as much as 400W metal halides. I had halides before and I don't doubt it a bit, these are very bright. Relatively 0 heat, just barely if you stick your hand underneath them. They are pretty heavy as well, I would guess 10 pounds per fixture.

I do not think one would cover a 55 gallon (normal 55) just because of the LED angle, they seem to all be pointing relatively straight down. If I mount it in the center, I still have about 4 inches on each side that looks dark.

However, it was 149.99 at my LFS. You couldn't find a better deal or a better light for that price. These are not made cheaply either. I am a stickler for quality and unless these implode tomorrow, I am liking it very much.

I will post some pictures of the fixture tonight beside of one of my Kessils. It is tough to get a good picture because of the color. Someone asked if these put out 14k light. I would have to say yes to that as they look just like my T5 which was a mixture of 2 10k and 2 Actinic.

Troptrea, the people at Eshine are asking me if the Cyan colored LED you referred to is the same as green 515nm. Apparently they did not understand my request for 6 cyan colored lights. Any suggestions?

Blasto,

Have you had any success growing chaeto with this light?

Cree Green peak at 527 nm
Philips Cyan peak at 505 nm
Cree Blues peak at 475 nm
Cree Royal Blues Peak at 457 nm

Now there are off brands that may peak at 515 but you would be much better off with the 505 nm because the whites are alredy putting out enough light at 520 nm you realy need the boast in the 490 to 500 with neutral whites. The only white that gives you a good punch in the 490 to 500 range are the CRI-90 but they produce way to much red and are very hard to find.

Ok so I emailed the guy at reefcatalystled.com about fixtures for my 20L, in the mean time does anyone else have any input on a budget friendly led system that I could use?
