Saw the taptronics on a local fl members setup they were very nice lookin wishing I could take one home to see how it looked on my tank haha

Wish there were some local ones with the aquarium led ones to see in person lol

Note that my tank it 32” deep and 7 feet long.

Yeah bro these lights are not gonna work for your tank, even if you ran 6. That's a big deep tank. I do not recommend the chinese boxes on anything over 24" deep.

I would DIY LED on a tank that size, that's gonna be your only option, or spend some real money on higher quality commercial boxes - which in that case just keep the MH...

Look into DIY perhaps :D

Big country you went with the aquarium leds 14k unit didn't you? How ya likin them still? Updated fts would be highly appreciated!

is a honda civic a bad car because a ferrari is a better car? ;)

You can check out my build thread. No complaints with the lights. They work. :D

They key is making sure you have enough and nothing deeper than 24"

So 4' 24" deep = 2 lights
6' 24" deep = 3 lights

etc

Depending on the ballast, bulb, and reflector, these black boxes can be close to, or higher par, than a 250 watt MH. For those needing something equivalant to 400 watt MH, they do make these boxes with more power/leds.

this is interesting if you read the small print and do a little calculations.

first off they are ysing 144 LEDs to produce 300 Watts. That basicly means each led is 2.08 Watts each. Then they are stating that they are running at 300 ma. For a LED to produce 2.08 watts of light at 300 ma it would need
roughly 7 volts per LED. I do not know of a manufacturer that makes a LED that comes even close to specs like that.

Creee does have high voltage line XT-E-HV but they run at a max of 66ma and 60 volts producing almost 4 Watts.

Maybe they use the same leds as aquariumleds.com? Their specs state 120watt, 40 leds, 300mA. 3 watts per led at 300mA. The aquariumleds, specs say the leds are: Semi/Bridgelux.

Ill prob start with 2 and go from there ... Just dunno if I want the 14k or the 20 k I like a blueish look but the ratio on the 20ks is a litte much I think its 27 blues to 13 whites I believe I wish pictures were more accurate or someone local had these ones to go check out

go with the 14k (50/50). the 20k will be to blue

here are 3 pics from my tank of the 14ks - white only, blue only, then both

also I highly recommend 3 of these lights on your 120g. not sure if 2 will do the job.
