The dimmer control circuit is one or the other, the output to the LEDs is something completely different.

This dimmer circuit seems to just measure the resistance of the pot, that's it. it's not designed for control by any other method, so you'd need to swap the driver.

Pretty nice little cree fixture here http://www.aliexpress.com/product-g...s-XP-series-leds-Royal-blue--wholesalers.html

Stuff is coming out so fast I'm afraid of buyers remorse! The new multichips are cool too.

I read that they are still recommending the 120 dimmable over the new A6? Why is that? Did I misunderstand because that A6 looks pretty awesome if you can just swap out LEDs and optics. Just get the latest as they come out. Am I missing something?

Well, we like the lights from Hong Kong, maybe we can find compatible drivers for less too :)

i would agree, it would be nice to have the sunset/rise but in the grand picture i dont think its that important. but i could be wrong....

Its kind of a non issue, but I wanted to extend the functionality myself at value pricing too. We still come out way ahead compared to buying an AI Sol or comparable fixture.

If you had multiple fixtures with different LEDs in them and they turned on at different times then that would stagger the intensity of the light.
I'm looking at 3 of the 120 watt dimmable fixtures for my 220 that is 30inches tall. Any ideas on led mixture and so forth?

I did already. Sent him the Inventronics and Meanwell part numbers. Haven't heard anything back.

Remember, 2pm here is 2am there.

I will probably follow your lead on this. With 10% sales going on for memorial day weekend, now is the perfect time for me to get the Apex. I can use the money saved to buy drivers. The quick connects make it nice and quick to replace too.

Just a guess here, but I wonder if a relay/switch is being utilized here on that pcb board, like in this diagram. This is a diagram for a meanwell 3 in 1 driver (resistor, pwm, and 0-10v), lpf-60D. Still could be some hope.

I fired that off to my buddy and he says it's definitely not wired that way. Apparently there is no ground on the PCB so he figures it's strictly checking resistance and the actual dimming circuit is still buried in the black box.

has anybody had them add the violets? I am thinking about 2 a6s with 6 uvs hooked with the whites and 6 violets hooked up with the blues if they can do that.

I am having them add them to the ones I just bought but they won't be here for a few weeks to see how they look

I got one of the d120 watt units (55x3watt) I got 4 violets in mine. It hasn't come yet but I'm loookin forward to seeing it all setup!

I actually have 2 tanks which I ordered fixtures for. I have a 150g that I ordered 3 a4's (they are the ones with uv) and I ordered 2 120w's for my 75g frag tank

Interesting note, Sam was curious if we could get the dimmer working so I've been updating him on the situation.

He just emailed me and told me that their engineers are working on an Apex solution!

Sam just emailedme saying they can no longer do different ratios only the standard ratio they provide .

Which I understand profit wise but this blows for me if I would have known that I WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN THIS ONE UNIT. I got one for now for my 65 and when I upgrade shortly to my 120 ill need another of the SAME unit so now I'm screwed and shouldn't have even got one and wouldn't have it I knew that. Now a second unit won't match which makes this unit useless as of right now when I do get it.
