Acro, thanks for the info. Yes a little worried about spread. I think 3 may even be over kill for a frag tank thats 10" high? Any othe input would be great!

I like the color selection with these, I was just wondering if it is a little too thin on whites. I bought a set of eshines aquawashers all blue to compliment my t-5 lights over my 135 and want to go with two a6s over my 120 gallon sps tank and think this will look good, just didn't know if I shoud look for more whites or will this work well for growing sps.

I just went on and I'm not too fond of any of the new ratios I see

I saw a a4 with 20 blues 24 white and 4 violets which is ok id rather see it be 24 blues 20 whites 4 violets and id still like more blue in a personal unit of mine

I saw an a6 that was mentioned here with 48 blues and 18 white? That's crazy blue to me and it also had 6 violets? That's close to a 3:1 blue to white ratio wayyy too blue I think

And then there was a d120 which had 24 blues 23 white 8 violets?!? Wow way too many violets I wouldn't put more then 4 in a A4 or a d120 and it makes even less sense they put 8 violets in a 55 led unit but only but 6 in an a6 which has 72? Makes no sense to me

Well I take it back sam email me a huge least of ratios they plan on offering that I'm sure will please many.

But still I'm trying to convice him to make a fee for the customer to be able to totally customize it so its worth there time. Even if it was a 30 dollar fee id be happy to pay it if it ment getting the exact combo I wanted. Cause I saw a lot of ratios that were too white for my liking.

Travis I'm thinking about 3 of the 120 dimmable fixtures for my 220. 30 inches tall. Any input on LEDs per unit to get good color?
Corey

Its tough to say man everyone has different taste so me telling you mine might not be what yours is but when I get mine unit ill post pics so you can see what mine looks like. I got one d120 unit and my ratio is
30 blues 21 whites 4 violets... And this is just a guess I don't even know if I like this but I got a lot of help from user troptrea he is the color expert. I suggest finding a unit in person you like and try and copy it I saw a boostled unit and loved the color look of it it had 119 led with 65 blue 42 whites and 12 biolets since out units only have 55 leds I cut there ratio in half which is 32 blues 21 whites 6 violets but that's still 4 leds too many so I took off 2 blues and 2 violets and that's it.

Its a gamble but I think ill like it esp with troptrea helping me. Some people like a 1:1 ratio some a 2 blue to 1 white ratio... I personally think myliking is a 1.5 blue to 1 white ratio. So say 12 blues then 8 whites ....18 blues 12 whites...... 30 blues 20 whites... In a d120 would be 33 blue 22 whites I just wanted a few violets in mine so I did 4 violets 30 blues 21 whites which comes out around a 1.4 blue to 1 white ratio. Plus I have an all blue reefbrite if I need more blue lol

That $300 dimmable fixture...

You're basically paying $140 for a controller on top of a $160 unit. The value isn't there for me, but that would work...

BUT, if you can find out which drivers they are using to get PWM input, you can use a typhon board or Reefkeeper Elite (Both PWM) and replace the drivers in the $160 unit or nova (if it is cost effective).

If two of those drivers come out to like $60, I would go this route. Its still not the best for an APEX setup, but it is better than nothing. A cheap compatible 0-10vdc dimming driver would be key.

I really like having easier temp control now. My old MH/T5 fixture was 6" off the tank and would really heat up the tank quick unless I kept the AC on. The leds still give off some heat, but being 10" up it barely makes it into the tank.

First few corals are responding nicely. My torch and hammers love the light.

I did have a cespitularia frag melt, but I think salinity dipped, was too high up the tank, and had too much flow.
