With my 8ft tank I can't help but wonder if two of these will do the trick:
http://houyi.en.alibaba.com/product...&edm_cta=read_msg&edm_time=realtime&edm_ver=e

http://houyi.en.alibaba.com/product...operation_dimmable_aquarium_led_lighting.html

They look very nice with the sunrise sunset and lunar cycles.

Intelligent Cree?

"2. Intelligent Functions

1) Infrared remote control: Different from the traditional and most new led lights, our newest intelligent led aquarium light takes the technology of infrared remote control, except the traditional manual mode by using button on panel housing side. It give our clients more choice and more convenient to operate the light.

2) For each color lighting there are 255 luminance ranges of brightness could be chosen. When those color lights are timed already, then they will light on in turn which seems so beautiful.

3) More intelligent and passive cooling systems: Our newest products are based on the theory of temperature sensor in our product then it prolong the lifespan of our products. When the temperature of LEDs reached to 60° C, it make the inside cooling fans to work. While if it is lower than 60° C, then it will not work.

4) Mimic natural sunrise and sunset of four seasons a year. And you could set the time in five modes ( 6:00am.6:30am,7:00am,7:30am and 8:00am) in different seasons which help push the growth of sea plants."

Any thoughts on this fixture? 4ft 88 3w Cree has me very interested. Having two fixtures intstead of four would be helpful.

The digital readout and the remote control seem pretty dang awesome and they are fully customizable. LOL every couple months something better comes out. This is awesome.

Travis - sam told me to contact hendy, but hendy keeps giving me the 26blue-4violet-25whites link...i've tried asking him to make me a custom link, but he keeps telling me to order it and leave a note for what I want...iono what to do :(

Email sam directly tell him travis told me to deal only with you to make sure I get what I want exactly ask him if he can make you a direct link to the unit you want like he did for travis...

sales02@ledgrowlights.cn

Maybe since I bought mine they started this new way of doing it for custom ratios so don't get too worried see what sam says and if he has you do it that way then its fine I trust sam. Could be a new way they take the order cause after mine was ordered they redid lots of ratio idea and came up with a set fee for diy units so it may be the standard way now but check with sam first

I think what they might be doing is having 5-6 different custom set prices, then when you want a specific order, it costs say 182.20, they link you to that one and tell you to add in the note what your order is.

Check the prices and check which Cree's they are using. The newest version is XT-E which is quite a bit better than last gen's XP-E XP-G. None of them use XT-E yet, so your fixture will be old before you get it.

I also don't trust controllers that don't have manuals. You don't get a manual with these lights, and if the controller goes, the whole light won't work.

Tbh I really don't know how much of a diff the violets make ... I know to many and you'll have a purple lookin tank lol

They are for bringing out the pink orange and red colors better I think its just preference I don't think its a must to have them but I don't think it hurts to have them either.

I can't tell ya what ratio to go with cause I don't know your liking I can tell you idont care for any of there ratio too much on aliexpress the only one I've seen that's even decent is the 30 blues 25whites and I don't even really like the sound of that for my liking. I think any of these ratios would look good

34blues 17 whites 4 violets
33blues 18 whites 4 violets
31 blues 20 white 4 violets

You can always do just 2 violets and add one more white and one more blue to any of these ratios

Thanks Travis. I'm going to stick with your original recommendation of 34 B, 17 W, 4 V combo.

travis - sent ya a pm, it was regarding the email from sam and your thoughts on the 90 degrees led or the 120 degrees led. i saw he noted they'd be using 90 degrees led, not optic lens...

Sam emailed me also about the D120 and said 90 degree optics was much better for the tank..Kinda confused now...Told him leave it at 120..

I just ordered the D 120w with 30 blue and 25 white for my 30g LPS tank. If all goes well I'll purchase 2 more for my 120g SPS tank.

I was thinking of getting 2 - A6 for the 120g. Do you think that is too much for a 4x2x2 tank? My thought was that I can always turn the lights down. Or do you think the A4 or D 120w would be fine?

Also, when I purchased I just used the Buy Now button and filled out the form. I sent an email too but got no response. I did however get an email that said Payment successfully made with an order number. Do you think everything is fine, or do I really need to contact Sam?

nIf you got the standard ratio should be no need to email sam you should be set

As for your 120tank its all your preference... If your tank wasn't 24 wide id say 2 d120 would be pleanty but not sure how well it would cover 24" of width I know it covers my 18" wide tank good. Worst case you could get 3 d120s and run them front to back instead of longways left to right... Put one every 16 inches and you would be set and it would prob me cheaper then 2 a6

According to sam the 90 degree lenses are very similar spread wise to the 120 degrees but the 90 penatrate better(which would be better for coral growth and keeping clams in the sand happy) so to same the 90s are better.

I trust sams word so don't be scared to go with 90s I don't think uoull be disappointed

Hey all,
I just placed an order for these:

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/546432064/2012_dimmable_cree_led_aquarium_light.html

I got the cool whites changed to neutral whites with a leg kit and shipping was $227. I liked the three dimmable switches and they were more than willing to customize colors. I havent received it yet (Just ordered on Friday and they had to customize with the neutrals) but am excited and will let you all know what it looks like.

This is for a BC29 if it matters.

I really like that one. Moon lights + leg kit is nice.

Here's my A6 on my 39" tank

Sorry for the poor pic quality, really hard to get a good picture with LEDs on an iPad. Corals are a mad from alk swing from bad batch of salt.

Will post more pics later with different intensity of blues and whites.

Looks great!

It also looks like two A6's could eventually cover my 120 gallon 72" tank, based on the spread you are getting over your 39"

I have a question. I bought an LED fixture off of ebay before I found this thread. I saw that it had a heatsink and that the LEDs were 3w being ran at 2w. The fixture looks almost identical to the Nova A4. Same 4 circular clusters just different air exhaust ducts and its not dimmable. The problem is that it is insanely powerful. I bought it Thinking it would be just a pretty good light and it has exceeded my expectations. I have it 21" above the tank and I still get 200 - 350 par at the sand bed. The tank is an 18" cube and I keep mainly zoanthids and they are pretty ticked right now. I have cut the white lights down to 3hrs and will add an hr every other week. I would like to put a couple dimmable ballasts in there but I have no idea how, or which ones to get. I do not really care about controlling with the reef keeper that I have just want to be able to tone it down a little. Does anyone have any suggestions? These are the lights I got
