Hey all,
I just placed an order for these:

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/546432064/2012_dimmable_cree_led_aquarium_light.html

I got the cool whites changed to neutral whites with a leg kit and shipping was $227. I liked the three dimmable switches and they were more than willing to customize colors. I havent received it yet (Just ordered on Friday and they had to customize with the neutrals) but am excited and will let you all know what it looks like.

This is for a BC29 if it matters.

Jason
When i click on the link, it doesn't have a buy option. it goes to a get updated price, which then requires a registration. Do you have to register to buy? THanks

What would you guys suggest for a standard 125 gallon. Planning on mostly lps with the occasional sps up high. Link please if possible.

Land o lakes the cheapest way to go is the d120s from aliexpress there 165or 180 if you customize them I have one on my 65 and it lights the whole things up 3 or 4 should be pleanty on your tank what's the exact dimensions?

Anyone else having problems with credit card company not letting payment go through? They are telling me there has been many cases of fraud in the area.

My CC was calling me as I was calling them. They basically want to make sure it's you and not someone else purchasing it with your card.

@landolakes so its exactly 2 of my tanks side by side and one cover my tank fully .. I know for sure you could get away with two but id deff do 3... With 3 you'll be set and if you still want more you can add a 4th later but I'm positive 3 will be pleanty

Jamey..

Do you have any pics of your tank with these lights? http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/546432064/2012_dimmable_cree_led_aquarium_light.html
I like the idea of both red/green .

And I have to pull the trigger on a light fixture this week,
Thanks for any input.

I can post a current picture tomorrow but the range of color is great, and the red/green make a huge difference to my eyes and really bring out the color.

I still only have them at about 50% and all my corals took right off, these replaced a bank of 250w 14k halides and 72" super actinic vho's.

I was really on the fence about led's and certainly didn't have high hopes other than my chiller wasn't going to run as much and I didn't have to reorder halide bulbs (my main reason to give them a shot) and I'm sold for now at least.

There 3w bridgelux led's run at 2w's not sure why they list them like that other to catch search engines.. They have a nice detailed layout and actually led K on there web page, it's all pretty clear and there nice fairly heavy well made fixtures..

Travis, so you have one of these units over a 36" tank? I am looking for something over my 31" tank but it is only a 20 gallon long so I don't want to buy two of them. I also want it dimmable since my tank is little and I can turn the lights down. Do you have the link to the ones that you have? How about pictures of your tank?

Bhazard, what do you have, what size tank, links and pictures?

I am sure that you all have posted them before, but it would help me out and also others that are reading this thread. BTW, I contacted Sam but I don't think I explained what I wanted correctly although he was very quick in getting back to me.

Travis, your 65 have a brace in the middle? Reason asking is that the 65 gallon I want, I just realized it has a brace in the middle which seems like it will hinder the LED light I purchased from Sam. I would have to get 2 for each side...way too much light I think.

I have the Nova A4, 34 gallon. I have pics of it running way back around page 75 ish or so.

You have several options. The two main units that everyone is getting are the d120 and Nova. The only differences are the Nova has several sized units, uses heatsinks and thermal grease, and runs a little bit stronger/brighter. Either one can be customized with colors or optics. The d120 is about $60 less though.

The d120 with no optics would light the 20 gallon long just fine. The Nova A4 uses optics for stronger penetration, but doesn't spread as wide.

Travis, Thanks!

I looked at the pics and then saw Kbell did the exact thing that I want to do. Our tank dimensions are the same, his tank is just a little taller than mine. I think I am going to place an order for these today or tomorrow.

Kbell, how high above your tank do you have your lights?

BH,

Thanks, that helps clear things up. I think I am going with the D120. I know they are overkill for my tank but since I can dim them that will help. I also want the spread because I don't want to mount them too high over my tank.

Oh i thought i read back on previous pages that they are working on making them controlable, was just curious is all. Although how hard would it be to modify them

Just found out reefbreeders can't make their units Apex dimmable. Resistance to 0-10v dimming is not reliable. They couldn't get it to work for mine. That sucks.

Unless these Chinese companies start to offer 0-10v dimmable drivers for Apex dimming, the only way to modify these to do it is to get 2 custom made 55-90v drivers, max current 650mah (they run normally at 500-580mah), and re-wire the fans. Meanwells won't work unless you did some serious rewiring, which is impossible on the d120. 4 meanwell's could work on the Nova with re-wiring.

My attempt made a dimmable Nova, but 0% intensity is still way too bright with the drivers I used. One good thing is that the lights are brighter than stock now, and still not too hot.
