My D120 is coming in today, can't wait to see it and get it set up. Just got my new 60gal and getting it ready later...

Hopefully this is positive from alwasy using metal halides and t-5's.

The guy I bought my 60 gal from also has a d120 on his 60 cube. It looks great! He has is dialed at about 50% and everything pops! Corals grow nice and little to no algae but he also has a bare bottom tank.

Just got myD120...super bright but it came with no violets as ordered..but....

I ordered 17 white 11 blue on one dimmer and 23 blue and 4 violets on the second dimmer.

When I lit up the blue only, 27 blues came one and the whites were really dull but look redish in color, even when cranked to 100%. I doubt this is something say a muti colored diode or they have it wired low enough to a violet spectrum?? Got an email into Sam for more on this...

I think people are confusing what violets and uv look like. Violets are very dim. They do not produce a bright violet light, but a very faint almost pinkish hue.

Mine look like that but are coming off the white LEDs on the second dimmer. Really weird and curious if anyone else has this combo with the D120 and if they have the same occurrence.. Other than that it is super bright when both channels are at 100%

They may have had to move violets to the white channel. The forward voltage of different leds are different, and sometimes cannot be placed on the same string.

Are all the whites dim, or just a few? You said you have whites on the second dimmer... but you said dimmer 2 is 23 blue, 4 violet? Those dim leds that look almost whitish are probably your violets.

I am also interesting in this new light fixture directly from the factory in China. I may pull a trigger on this unit soon. But still not too sure about the ratio. Any suggestions would be appreciate a lot. It is a 48" long with 80 x 3w Bridgelux leds.

Thx.

With Bridglux you have a lot of options depending which White LED's they are using.

With the 4,500K Whites I'd go with 20 Whites and 60 Blues.
With the 6,500K Whites I'd go with 28 Whites and 52 Blues
With the 10,000K whites I'd go with 36 Whites and 44 Blues
With the 20,000K Whites I'd probably go with 44 Whites and 36 Blues.

When you split them up between the switches I suggest 6 of your whites on the dawn to dusk circuit just enough to break up the all blue look.

some one tell me difference between the violets and the uv led.. bhazard.. on a a6 think add a green, red, and 4 violets.. ?

Sorry to hear about this Neon. It appears this is the second time in the last couple weeks Sam has failed to deliver on the violets on a BTO.

Just got my A6 today... I'm disappointed... Not what I ordered.. I wanted 6 violets but they all were blues. Let's see how they will resolve this problem.

So, I been talking to Sam on and off, not sure where my violets are. I was told that he shipped to a member named Ian on here and Ian was going to ship to me, well I still can't get in reach with Ian (if you are still reading this thread send me a pm). But in other news with my A6, I have growth on my monti and red planet so the A6 can grow corals that's for sure.

The more this happens the less likely people will order from him. I have been wanting to see peoples impression from their lights and service, and this would be strike two for Sam from what I have read on this thread. I have heard he is responsive and nice, but when he fails to deliver what one pays for that is disconcerting. I for one do not want to solder or do extra work after paying $200+. Quality assurance must be lacking there, or they do not understand what Violet really means as you/others have noted.

this may not be the right place, but am the only one using strips of these?

i had two strips on the back of the tank angled forward i run on blue, and have and 2 on the front angled back shifting colors between every color possible at a slow rate over my 55. accidently got the powersupply for the blue set wet so its currently not running. there is also a 4 bulb t5 fixture wit 2 blues and 2 12000ks. i love the look of my tank and the subtle changes in flourescensce on everything, and since running these everything seems way more active and corals all just look way better and fuller

These can be used as supplemental lighting, but they are too weak as a main light source.

2 green, 2 red, 4 violet maybe if they offer it. This isn't exactly full DIY where you have control over where it is going to go.

There have been a lot of cases where people aren't getting exactly what they ordered, so I'd try to keep it as simple as possible. They are the only ones who offer a dimmable Nova type fixture, but there are a few places that can do a custom d120.

How well do your colors pop during the day, also how blue do the blues look when the whites go off?

Color during the day are pretty close to the video. They pop real good. The overall color is similar to my 250 wt radium MH but the coral color's pop more with the LED's. At dusk the white's go off and it looks like a blacklight display from a 70's head shop. Not too natural, but way cool.

I was very skeptical about LED's and the color"”not any more. One of the best upgrades I got for my reef.

It got up to 100 outside yesterday. My electric bill would be through the roof with the MH.
