I was about to buy one but they want me to pay to a western union or T/T and I'm not really comfortable with that. Thought I could pay through Paypal but they said no.

Bhazard- I emailed Simon 3 days or so ago about the D120 and he still hasn't got back to me.

Have you tried Lyn? If you want I can PM you his email. I have been going back and forth with him tonight. Almost ready to order my lights.

Aliexpress.com has a credit card option. See if they'll make a link there.

Simon isn't the only rep for Twilight Group, there are a few. Just search twilight group on aliexpress. They don't call their light the d120, so it might have confused him

Evergrow sells the d120.

I bought the Taetronics LED from an Ebay seller (seller was sunvalleyus). I've never dropped it in water or gotten it wet. See the photo--completely burned out. I contacted the seller, he arbitrarily told me that there was a 60 day warranty (not listed anywhere), and if I send him $20, I could send the unit to him, and he was look at it to consider replacing it. I've had it for 4 months. Buyer beware.

Luckily it wasn't worse. Led string fried somehow.

I wonder which factory makes the Taotronics? That's the first bad experience I've heard about them.

60 days? That kinda sucks, the aliexpress companies all offer at least one year, but return shipping probably wouldn't be covered.

I'm not sure the factory, but the Ebay seller receives negative feedback almost daily, so it's probably my fault for not checking.

The 60 days was made up, if I had been within 60 days, it would have been a 30 day warranty. Shady seller.

I'm lucky the house didn't burn down.

Ive had a few different led light units from china and to be honest when i tested them with my par meter i was getting really good par readings.
A 120w led fixture that i tested gave more par than my 250w halides at the time.
Although par is not everything.
Saying that though every one of the china led lights has only lasted about 4 to 5 months before the leds burned out i think they always skimp on the heatsink a relay on fans too much and obviously if a fan breaks or fan filter gets blocked thats it the leds are going to over heat and burn out in no time.
Id say save your pennies and invest in a better quality fixture which will last you a good 10 year so you actually say some cost saving.

Do you think that 60 degree optics are too much for a standard 21" high 75 gallon tank? Should I go with 90 or 120 instead? I was going to go with an aluminum case, but they don't come painted. They could do a black aluminum case but they said it would take a long time. I am leaning back towards getting the standard black painted steel case. I don't have a canopy and I think that being silver the lights would stand out too much. If anyone has an aluminum case d120, could you please post pics. What are your opinions on getting an aluminum case vs steel?

Nope. It does sunrise and sunset like the rest. Looks like you save a lot of money not using colored leds.

No moonlights on that though, but if you don't need them, that's a hell of a price for a unit with an LCD controller

I know I am a little late responding to this one but, Twilight Group does have a unit with manual dimmer knobs and an LCD that only controls on/off time. I was quoted $127 plue shipping for that unit and $190 plus shipping for the same unit but with full dimmer control thru the LCD display. If they are quoting $170 including shipping that is the unit with manual dimmers.

Has anyone found a small inexpensive chinese fixture for a refugium? I have looked thinking I could find something small for the back of my BC29 pretty easily. But Im suprised that I havent stumbled onto something yet and for the prices Im seeing im not sure the JBJ (sizewise would be ideal) light isnt the way to go. I really thought I could find something similiar much cheaper than $60. I would like to stay with leds.

Here is a link to the JBJ in case you are not familiar:

BTW...My Chinese led fixture (the one with three dimmers and red/green) has been up for a couple weeks and I have purchased a frogspawn and mushroom frag. While too soon to post any growth results I can say that everything is looking good and the frogspawn seems to fully extend and is looking good!

Everyone see they are made using iron, aluminum is an upgrade?

Yes, aluminum is a $20 upgrade and it does not come painted. I was going to go with aluminum but I think that the fact I can't get them in black might be a deal breaker for the upgrade. My lights will be mounted in open air, no canopy, so I don't think that the steel case is going to be an issue. Figure with an open top and the lights being 10 or so inches above the water that the chances of corrosion will be minimal.

UPDATE! Just received an email from Lyn that they can do a black aluminum case! Think that is the route I am going to go.

As far as optics is 60 degree too much for a standard 75 gallon tank? Should I go with either 90 or 120?
