Chitons

Definitely cool. Chitons produce the hardest biomineral known, magnetite, at room temperature. Who knew? :)

I like the "wandering meatloaf" description. Meandering meatloaf would have been more alliterative...

I believe Guy is talking about the ability of those uber hard mouthparts to chew acrylic.

I had chitons in a acrylic tank. Looked at it with a magnifying glass and you'd have thought I had an infestation of mini-submarine-beavers! They left quite the bite marks.

Yeah, I was a little nervous when a chiton went directly over my frag of Rastas the other day, but the Rastas were fine. Ive had the chitons in my tank for a few months and have seen them all over, including the glass, but haven't seen any issues. Any suggestions if I should remove them from my GLASS tank? The glass is fairly soft being an ADA tank. I am draining my tank tomorrow in preparation for moving this weekend, so it would probably be a good time to try to get them out if anyone has any strong suggestion to remove them.
