Chloramine in water and SPS

My sps have been going on a steady decline and I have racked my brain as to what is causing it but the only thing I've found is that my water treatment facility uses chloramine to treat the water. I am using a 4 stage rodi but it is not a chloramine specific system therefor I think that chloramine has been entering into my tank.

What does chloramine do to sps? This is the only conclusion I am able to draw as to why my sps are dying off slowly so please give some feedback as to whether I should look elsewhere for the problem. I've already ordered the 5 stage chloramine system from BRS. Thanks and look forward to your advices

Get a chloramine test kit. If your RO DI has a carbon filter (and it is adequetly sized)it will remove chloramine. If not and chloramine enters the membranes it can destroy them. Here is a really good link by Randy Holmes-Farley http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-11/rhf/feature/ . Good stuff in there including how to test for and if need be remove chloromine. Also info on whether your DI RO unit is up to the task.

The link NeilFox provided is a good one.

Chloramines are broken down by carbon in our water filters. However, ammonia is a product of the breakdown and is then removed by the DI resin. My city water contains chloramines and I use 2 carbon canisters and 2 DI resin canisters in my water filter.
